This hotel is from socialist era and it looks that hotel will fall very soon, but inside they strive to renovate it. The main parts of rooms are new - new COMFORTABLE beds, TV, and furniture, however on the balcony are some dangerous holes and the bathroom is not so stable. There was also electric plug out the wall, but that was fixed by reception very soon. The elevators did not worked, so we had to pull all bags up to the 3rd floor. Despite this problems there was amazing local breakfast with big choice of local "pršut" and cheese. Dinners were great also. I very recommemd you to visit Durmitor or oither place in Montenegro, but i thinhk that hotel what is opposite of hotel Planinka is way better...

This hotel was absolutely awful, it should not be open for business. The wallpaper is peeling off the walls, some of the roof tiles in the room were missing. We booked our stay online for two nights through Booking.com and we selected the "Superior Room" when we arrived we went to our room to find it was the picture shown as the standard double room. We went back to reception to question this and were advised that all rooms were the same size, despite pictures of the superior room looking much larger with a very large bathroom. They stated that all rooms had been upgraded with a minibar and LCD tv. There was an LCD tv in the room and a small fridge which did not work and was very old and I don't know how it could have been deemed to be a recent addition. There was mould on the shower curtain. The balcony was in a seriously dangerous condition, the tiles had been pushed up by grass and weeds and were no longer intact. The balcony looked as though it would fall off the building if you stood on it so we elected not to. The walls and exterior of the hotel were in a seriously bad state of repairs. Breakfast in the hotel was horrific, you would not give it to a dog. There was a variety of non-descript "meats" available which looked seriously questionable. This hotel should be closed down I would strongly advise anyone considering this hotel to stay away!

A very dear to my hotel where I was at least 6 times. It's now very rusty though and failed to see some investments. Excellent position, the hotel has a lot of room for all the facilities .. necessary investment. You can sleep one night in passing ... But nature is divine, and then it replaces all .. One of the most beautiful unspoiled mountains. Come and see .. lakes, walkways, woods ... animals .. The food .. So when all that you consider this former luxury hotel worth to renew ..

We had not booked any accommodations in Zabljak and as it was late afternoon when we arrived we just walked in the first decent looking hotel and took a room at Hotel Planinka. That name will stay with us and we have fond memories of it. The good points were that it was a good deal at first glance for room and board, the food was really good (big buffet with lots of choices) and the staff were nice and we had amazing views of the mountains from our room. The hotel has had better days though, it must have looked great when it first opened but its now falling to pieces and the level of accommodation is clean but basic. The walls are thin, bathrooms and furniture havent changed in decades (including awesome green rotary phones), balconies are crumbling, mattresses are worn out and you just get one blanket. Dont expect for the room to be cleaned every day either. But its all so retro somehow its almost worth spending at least one night there just for the sake of it, and there is a stuffed wolf in the main hall. However after the two nights (of uncomfortable sleep) we had agreed to initially we moved to a self catering flat we found through a local travel agent (we did see more than one though before committing to anything which was the right thing to do), this was far more comfortable (quite important after a day hiking) and worked out cheaper. I dont think Planinka is the worst accommodation in town (it could be great if renovated) but if you can rent a flat or a room from a local instead its probably a better option comfort wise.

Baring in mind, that this is a 2* hotel I can say that it is OK. A bit old and used, but self service buffet breakfast and dinner were above expectations. Nice selection of food to chose from and in enough quantities. Rooms are also clean. Stuff are typical Montenegrins, therefore keep in mind that you are on vacation and time is not an issue ;)
Amazing nature surroundings are definitely worth the visit but don’t expect too much from the hotel. It is also planned to be replaced with a completely new hotel in 2 years time.
