“Wonderful Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 February 2012

We only had one night in this hotel but were very impressed with the location, the sincere hospitality of the hostess and the general ambience of the building inside and out. There was a lovely patio and garden area at the front, a small, but pretty, view of the river from our room and the decor in our room was tasteful and most comfortable. Our room was not large but very clean and provided all the necessities for a very pleasant stay. The food was great and the hosts were particularly charming and informative. We thoroughly enjoyed our night here. The price of the accommodation was excellent value.

What a wonderful hotel, and to be treated like family by Madam et Monsieur was a lovely touch. The vin peche is the secret, together with great food, lovely views of the river, and convenient access to Sarlat, Marqueyressac and the other bastide towns. Glorious and I'd go back tomorrow!

Stayed only one night as passing through but certainly wished to stay longer, and will go back. As others report, it is in a pleasant village, overlooking the river and very well laid out. The decor is refined and very well maintained. The hosts are charming and helpful, and the food....is not only excellent, but good value.
Overall, this hotel sets a standard many promise but fall short of.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights while visiting the Dordogne and Vezere valleys. The hotel is small, in a small village, but right by the banks of the Dordogne. It is spotlessly clean, quiet, with good food at a reasonable price, and the very best hospitality provided by the owners personally. For example, we had to leave early before breakfast but Patric insisted on providing us - at no charge - with "a little coffee" as he called it and a couple of croissants before leaving. It is ideal for a one or two night stay while travelling through or around the area. The village of Badefols however, where it is situated, is not very interesting in itself.

From the wonderfully warm greeting, the glass of vin peche, a superb dinner, to our departure after a delicious breakfast, everything was superb. A perfect host and hostess.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 September 2010

Last time I wrote a review on these pages it was because an expensive hotel in England was so dreadful. This, on the other hand, is a pleasure to write because the Cote Rivage is a great place to stay for a short break and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. The most notable aspect of the stay was the incredible frendliness of the proprietors and our restaurant waiter. They were so welcoming, interesting, amusing and apparently pleased to see us that it would have been almost impossble to find fault with this hotel.

The food was excellent, the wine local and the rooms clean, well-decorated, comfortable and quiet. As a base for exploring the Dordoigne, this place was ideal. Not far from Bergerac and the airport but far enough for us to sit there watching the river flow quietly by.

A couple of things to note: The river is at ninety degrees to the hotel and there is another house between it and the water. My impression from the website was that we would be overlooking it directly. It doesn't detract much but it's worth knowing in advance to avoid disappointment. There isn't a swimming pool either, which might make it a bit tricky in high summer.

But for us, it was pretty close to perfect and we will definitely return another day. Highly recommended if you want peace, quiet and very friendly service in a small, intimate hotel.

This small hotel is near Bergerac and east of Lalinde, on the Dordogne river. The 7 rooms are small but cozy, clean, with reading lights, TV, wi-fi, air conditioning, phone, hair dryer, small clean baths with shower. We loved our queen bedded room off of an upper terrace, where we could enjoy a morning coffee or an evening beverage with a view of the river. The owners/proprietors are gracious and helpful, and can speak English if you can't speak French too well. Travelers need their own car to explore the surrounding area with the bastide villages, towns like Sarlat, Castelnaud, Domme, Cadouin, or the prehistoric caves at Lascaux or Les Eyzies, or, to enjoy the outdoor activities such as biking, hiking, water adventures, etc., or to sample wines or foie gras!
