We stayed at the Kennedy Nova for 7 nights and chose it because of it's full board value and location. We were not disappointed.
The hotel is quite deceptive from the front and much larger than expected although the dining area was at the back of reception on the ground floor with very little light and in such a prime location overlooking the bay and Manoel Island it would have been lovely to dine at the front of the building. I'm certain the hotel would gain ouside custom in their restaurant as the food is very good and staff very attentive and efficient.
In UK terms the hotel is 3* and a little 'tired' but it was very clean and the housekeeping is excellent.
On the first night our room was very cold and we had problems with the air con unit as there were no instructions but we were provided with a portable heater from reception and the following day the problem was resolved but please Kennedy Nova... provide an instruction sheet in all rooms (there are sensors on the windows/balcony doors to stop the heating/ac when open) along with a hotel facility listing such as meal times (found in the lifts and dining area) and gym/jacuzzi prices and pool location/annual opening times etc!
The location is excellent with buses stopping right outside and a short walk into Sliema (10 minutess) to bars, restaurants and shops - M&S, Next, Dorothy Perkins, BHS, Debenhams etc etc!
The staff were so lovely. There was one or two who lacked in customer service skills slightly but wholly they were excellent and happy, smily people.
Bar prices were very similar (if not cheaper) than outside. A bottle of local wine was 6 euros.
I loved that there was one area for congregating guests in the evening with regular entertainment. It encouraged guests to chat and we made some lovely friends who were mostly 2nd time guests and gave lots of local, useful information.
Trips and excursions can be booked at reception and Fiona was so helpful and the prices were on par with other booking agents. The 'Hop on/off' buses are such great value for sightseeing and exploring.
All in all, we were very pleased with our hotel choice and would recommend it for value and location but next time I would definitely book a sea view room as the views are too good to miss.
