“Good for a quick sleepover”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 April 2014

The hotel's entrance was not glamorous, and the bar/lobby had a weird smell - either sewer issues, old smoke scent, or some weird cleaning fragrant - anyway, the entry was non-forgiving. The staff was friendly. The room I had was dated, but clean, with a comfortable bed, flatscreen, and modern bathroom, and it was quiet, even with the window open. Parking and breakfast were included in the price. Most hotels in Norway charge breakfast and parking, so all in all, the price for the room was ok - a bit too high, but any other alternative would have cost easily 50 euro more. There are no decent restaurants in this town, it is past glory, and this hotel kind of fits in - although what I wanted: no struggles with parking, a clean room, and good rest, were easily met - so I was ok.

The hotel has good location. Next to tourist information. It has nice view of fjords. If you have plan to trolltunga, then this hotel will be nice to stay. Breakfast was good.
The room is small and the hotel is expensive.

I was in Odda for the Blues Festival and stayed here for several nights. A wonderful experience. The location is oustanding. Right on the water and the center of downtown, with a beautiful view of the fjord and the surrounding mountains.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a full Northern European-style breakfast with bread and cheese and meat and soft-boiled eggs, among other things. Full bar (and well-stocked with quality international liquor) adjoining the lobby. And there was a fresh fish truck parked across the street that served amazing fried fish cakes and smoked salmon!

The blues festival was also a blast, hosted at the hotel and the Iris club up the street. I recommend it if you're visiting Norway in the fall: www.oddablues.no

Overall, the service and hospitality were impeccable. The owner Ole was always around, personally making sure that everyone was enjoying there stay. I would definitely visit again.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the water side (odd numbers, I believe). The higher up you go, the better the...

Travelled to Odda on business and decided to stay at this hotel for convenience, there is not a lot of choice to be honest.
Well placed to visit the local eateries and bars and a cracking view over the Fjord from my front of hotel room.
Room was adequate and had free WiFi with no connection issues, the rooms are dated but clean and warm.
Breakfast is your typical Norwegian type, on a self serve basis, plentiful if not spectacular.

All in all if your in the area and it's close for work or a stop over then it's perfectly acceptable, however if I was visiting the area for a longer time I would probably look elsewhere, at £125 a night it's not a cheap option.

Top tip, don't get involved drinking Cognac with the locals when you have an early start!

Room Tip: Front of hotel for best views

We stayed one night here on our driving trek around Norway. We stayed in one of the larger rooms and it was a nice, no frills room. We were most excited that we found a bar that was open across the street.

The view from our room was awesome, the room was large and the breakfast was decent. The coffee machine they had did provide more than just coffee (latte, cappuchino) which was more than can be said for other hotels during our driving.

Parking was included in the front of the hotel. Overall, it was not bad for pulling up with no reservation. The check in process was also very smooth.

Tip: Entrance did not appear to be handicap friendly if memory serves.

I have to go years back to find a hotel room of similar quality. What comes to mind is a motel in Joshua Tree I reluctantly paid $39 for in 2005. Although the reception area and elevator are renovated, when you enter the interior of the hotel, the establishment starts to look really old. As I entered my single room, I was chocked to worn down the room was. The bath room was horrible and the shower one of the smallest I've ever used. TV was old, even for CRT technology. I managed to get five channels working. Room appeared to be clean and the bed was OK. Breakfast was acceptable: a plus in the overall impression. Service was adequateThe price was lower than expected for a place like Odda. The room standards (my colleague was on the same floor, and a guest at the reception wanted a room change) are so bad that the hotel should be avoided.

Room Tip: Don't choose this hotel unless you have to. Choose Rosendal, Tyssedal or even Lofthus (Ullensvan...

I am a man that travels 150-200 days a year professionally. This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed on in Norway. Today I arrived at this so called hotel. It was 40+ degrees C when i entered the room. The economy sized room is the size of a normal prison cell in Norway. I know, been there know that... Only 1 channel on the TV, which has been worse and worse for at least 4 years... 1. time I was here they had at least 4 channels... paint falling of the wall in the shower. Only decent thing here is the breakfast which is quite good. And they charge your card for the entire stay +300 NOK per day extra when you arrive.... And they do not release your funds until a week later. If you can get a room somewhere else please do so...

Room Tip: Do NOT stay here!!!
