me and my boyfriend stopped in The red lion in September with a groupon deal and had a meal there at night time.
One word...Amazing.
the food was absoutely to die for (and me and my boyfriend are real foodies).
The atmosphere and surroundings were lovely and the staff very attentive.
If I could, I would give this place 11/10.
It was expensive but we didn't mind as the food waas such good quality and sourced local to the red lion at bolton abbey.

Very good choice of starters and main courses on the bar menu and even more on the specials board including lots of unusual choices as well as pub favourites like fish & chips and shepherds pie. Of the 10 of us eating that night there was only 1 complaint that the gammon was tough. Service was good with all 10 meals being served together. A couple of the group didn't have started and only 2 had room for desert but with 4 bottles of a very nice house red and several soft drinks our bill was a fairly reasonable £25 per head. I can personally recommend the game terrine which was served with a fig & apple chutney and the calves liver with lentils which was cooked perfectly and melted in the mouth.

The food fair - the surroundings good - certain staff whom let the side down require certain training.

Customers are the life blood of any establishment - staff are there to service customers not the otherway around.

An otherwise pleasant meal spoiled by inattentive - rude staff with a' take it or leave it attutude'.

Staff training appears to be lacking or otherwise disregarded by those whom are customer facing. Severe non verbal communications sum thier attitude up - even a simple request for a clean knife was met by a 'death look'.

This establishment is in danger of severe 'people voting with thier feet' as we did not staying for a sweet and or coffee.

Management wake up see what is going on under your business roof.
