This was our second visit to this aboslutely fabulous hotel which sits amidst stunning fell scenery and the river Wharfe which flows along the hotels plentiful riverside seating. From telephone booking enquiry, to confirmation, to booking in, the staff were extremely effiicient. Our room in the Red Lion Hotel was well appointed, spotlessly clean and had wonderful views of the river and fells. Dinner in the spotlessly clean, beautiful, candlelit, and flowers on the table restaurant, was faultless, the food was delicious, piping hot, served on a hot plate with such attentitiveness and politeness. Same compliments to the bar staff. The breakfast has got to be the very best we have had as regards choice and quality. Once again the waiting on staff were friendly, polite and sadly lacking these days - a smile. Well done Red Lion for welcoming your guests and getting it 'right'. We will return and will highly recommend you to others.

Booked a one night stay with breakfast for £40 for two people via Living social deals. Stayed in the Manor house which is not part of the main pub but a separate house about 100yds away. We were on the top floor, it was a small room which included a small en-suite, TV, tea and coffee, biscuits and sweets and a kettle, hair-drier and even an Iron. We found the bed very comfortable.

Enjoyed the full English breakfast, which while not gut busting was filling and of good quality. Had a few beers in the bar which offers a great selection of beers. Only eye-watering moment was the £5.75 for a Brandy coffee.

A great location and recommended.

superb setting, really nice and comfy bedroom with all amenities, some staff very friendly manager very rude and unprofessional, slagging customers off to other barr staff when a relative was in hearing distance and unaware he had heard the whole conversation, very upsetting and did spoil our stay, manager under pressure with 50 customers to serve at once in a pre-booked party. also one barr staff very rude totally unacceptable, would not recommend for this reason alone, not worthy or our custom and well earned saleries

Room Tip: all rooms were clean but did need a fan to cool the air quality

Many thanks for taking the time to review us. Pleased to hear that you enjoyed the setting and bedrooms. On the day of the wedding all four of us girls and staff did our utmost to make sure the bride, groom and guests had a wonderful day. We work very hard to make sure everyone is happy and following the claims from your relative that one of our managers had been rude about other guests, we then spoke to all staff involved and no one is aware of this situation. We always pride ourselves on our professionalism. Unfortunately at weddings when alcohol is involved things can be misinterpreted by guests. We did not have another party of 50 in on the evening of the wedding, we were just busy, which is normal on a Saturday night in the summer holidays. With regard to the gentleman who served on the bar in the wedding room we have spoken to him about his manner with you and apologise if he has caused offence.
On check out the following morning we were taken aback by the comments made by two family members, but found it very difficult to constructively deal with as one of them just seemed to want to shout at us and criticise every part of the day and every member of staff.
As a family run business we would never take anyones money lightly, we work hard to make sure people feel they have spent their money well.
Yours sincerley

We stayed as a couple on 9th July and had a thoroughly enjoyable stay overall. We arrived in the afternoon and checked in to find a nicely furnished room (number 16 in the main building) and an immaculate bathroom. We flung the window doors wide open as the room was like a furnace in the heat and went down to sit outside the front of the pub in the seating area, looking out over the picturesque river and bridge. Beautiful! We booked a table in the bar area for our evening meal and whilst moderate-pricey for bar food, it was lovely. Again it was very hot inside the eating area and no windows were open and no fans to cool us down so we made a quick dash back outside as soon as we had finished. We returned to our room fairly late to find the room had not cooled down at all so we had rather a sleepless night! The bed was comfy however the heat kept us awake. There were nice touches such as CDs for visitors use so we made the most of this. There were also nice bottles of Molten Brown to use in the bathroom. The following morning we had a lovely breakfast of locally sourced ingredients. It wasn't very large but was particularly nice with leek and pork sausages, sausages, egg...There was cereal, toast and fruit to help yourself to although had to re-use your bowl for each type of food. We checked out at 10.30am as instructed which is too early in my opinion but we obliged. We were told on check out that they were considering buying fans for the rooms. I myself would have rushed straight to the nearest store that sold them and bought all my guests them as it was impossible to sleep. I thought this was a ridiculous comment as it had been scorching weather for several weeks prior to our visit and leaving the windows wide open all day, evening, night and morning had no effect. There will have been many a guest staying on the top floor who had a sleepless night. Anyway, other than not resolving this issue, everything else meant we had a fantastic stay despite this!

Thank you so much for taking the time to review us. So pleased that overall you enjoyed your stay. Our riverbank and terrace is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a drink. This year has been unusally hot! its the first decent summer we have had in Yorkshire for 3 years ! and a long time since it has remained hot ! We have 25 bedrooms and 5 holiday cottages so it has not been possible to have a fan for every room but we have been out and bought a selection of fans should guests require them. They probably wont be needed now for another 3 years knowing the British weather ! Our main bar area does not have any windows, the areas off the bar do and we always keep them open or guests are welcome to open them in the hot weather.
Glad you enjoyed your meals, we have brought up with the breakfast girls about extra bowls, the girls would have been more than happy to provide you with another bowl if you had of asked.
We have always had a check out of 10:30am, but as is stated in your room pack we are more than happy to provide a late check out on request.
We hope we are able to welcome you back to The Lion in the not too distant future.
kindest regards

We were given an overnight bed and breakfast stay here from our grandchildren. We booked our stay in July 2013 when the weather was just fabulous. Burnsall is a lovely setting at any time of year but when the sun shines and you are able to sit outside, by the riverside in the 'garden' of the Red Lion for a few drinks with friends it is truly enjoyable and will stay in our memories for a long time. The evening dinner was good and the breakfast was excellent. We had not visited Burnsall for many years and the warm welcome and atmosphere throughout our stay made for a delightful break from our normal routine. The room was clean and well furnished although it felt a little cluttered - perhaps because it was a little small. The ensuite was large, clean and stocked with very favourable shampoo etc.etc.. Overall we enjoyed our stay immensely and would love to return in the future.

Room Tip: We had the room directly over the Red Lion sign over the front door. This gave us lovey views of th...

Bought the Groupon offer as we haven't stayed in that area before and it looked central to various other places of interest to us. I like a pub atmosphere even though I don't drink a lot and I wasn't disappointed the The Red Lion is perfect with its quirky rooms and very friendly staff, who couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The outside has lots of seating area's and its position along the river side is lovely. Our room was perfect for us, as we took our dog I was expecting a rather dismal room which is what we normally get everywhere else we stay. Was I wrong ! it was light and airy and large, We had a bath and a shower in the bathroom with lovely toiletries to use. The next treat was the breakfast beautifully cooked and fresh and plenty of it.
Overall we had a fantastic stay and Burnsall was lovely we couldn't believe our luck at finding this offer. Will definitely go back.
