“Manor House, Red Lion Burnsall”
Reviewed 11 February 2014

We had a lovely stay having been wedding guests at another hotel down the road. We had a lovely night's sleep, great facilities and the only down side was the lack of milk with the tea making facilities. However the hotel did supply lovely coffee and hot chocolate.
The setting is absolutely beautiful with the river running across the back garden.
The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: Ask for extra milk when booking in.

Many thanks for reviewing us.
Wonderful to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and that you were well looked after.
we provide the carton milk on the tea trays but there is a note in the bedroom pack that we are happy to provide fresh milk or more carton milk on request. We will though look into putting more out on the tea tray now that it has been brought to our attention.
Hope to be able to welcome you back to the Lion and Manor House
kind regards
Sarah, Vicky, Katy and Eleanor

We stayed in a cottage in Burnsall village a stone's throw away and ate at this hotel three times. We absolutely loved it. From sitting in the lounge by a cosy fire to the lovely pub/dining area this place was just marvelous for either just drinks or food or both! The staff were great and the locals welcoming. The food was outstanding. We intended to cook each evening in our cosy cottage but could not resist trying the different meals on the menu. We will definitely go back! What a find...

We stayed in the cottages belonging to the Red Lion. We had No 5. The views from the two windows in the lounge were beautiful and the cottage was clean and adequately kitted out.
Our negatives would be that the boiler/laundry/generator was situated nextdoor to our cottage and the humming noise was continual. This was alright if you could get used to it but I could not sleep very well. We also felt that the lounge was very poorly lit and on dark evenings such as we had there was not enough light.

Room Tip: I would recommend a different cottage to No 5 if you want it to be quieter however No 5 did have ver...

Many thanks for taking the time to review us. We are very glad to hear that you enjoyed the fine views from the cottage, they really are superb ! The laundry room is located next to the cottage but no washing is done after 6PM, so we are not quite sure what the noise was. Had you brought this to our attention during your stay we would have happily moved you. We will mostly definately look into the lighting now you have brought this to our attention.
We hope to see you again
Kind regards
Eleanor

Can we check-in earlier than 3pm as we're going to a lunch? No. Anywhere to leave our bags? No. Anywhere for us to get changed? No. So not the best of starts. Stayed in the Manor house which we feel was quite expensive for the room we got. It was Just OK. All the no smoking signs in the lounge made us laugh given the stale smoke smell. However staff couldn't be better while we were there, dinner in the bar was excellent, beer was great @ breakfast was fast and delicious. Would definitely go back to a different room though and mid-week so it would be cheaper. Fantastic location!

Many thanks for taking the time to review us, Iam not sure who checked you in but we always offer guests the option of leaving bags in reception if arriving early, we do need to stick to a time for going into the room as the housekeepers need to clean thouroughly after each check out. Apologies if the lounge smelt of smoke, however much we try to emphasis we are non smoking there are always the rebels!!! We were pleased you enjoyed your food and do pride ourselves on our hearty breakfasts.
Hope to see you again
Kind regards

An Inn in a perfect Yorkshire Dales setting on the river. The staff cannot do enough for you, they are young and polite. It is family run and they seem to go the extra mile which makes the difference. I have stayed in a cottage across the courtyard which was lovely with views across to the bridge and down the river, and also in a hotel room which was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Our friends stayed also and their room was smaller but still as good. Each room seems to have its own style so no corporate theme here:) our last visit was 2 day New Years Eve gala weekend which was wonderful. four course meals , breakfast, fireworks at midnight and a disco until the early hours . Very good value.
There is a large bar area, function room , gorgeous dining room and bar meal seating, and also there is a residents lounge which has lots of sofas and two stove fires, with wifi. Lots of walkers use The Red Lion as it's in a perfect spot for a hike.
Loads of places to visit nearby.
Back for another visit in May, love it.

Like many other people booked one night and stayed in the Manor house and dined in the restaurant at the Red Lion. We were made to feel welcome and the staff were very helpful. The room was very comfortable and clean, and the setting is very quaint and peaceful but not much in walking distance on a dark evening. The food (while a bit pricey) was lovely and the breakfast was also very good. Hope to return in summer to enjoy the river and the scenery. Would recommend.

So pleased you enjoyed your stay with us, we do try to give value for money with regards to food and accommodation, all produce is sourced locally and ironically this can sometimes make it a little more expensive!! however we believe the quality is worth it.
