We visited this cafe after a walk, prior to which we had eaten at the Red Lion. Well, we wish we had just gone to the cafe instead, the welcome was wonderful and Sophie the waitress is a future star. OK, we promised her we'd say that, but actually the three ladies running the show were all really charming, funny and super. Good views, relaxed and loads of photos of Olympic athletes whoi stop here for cake when cycling past, which ones? You'll have to go and find out. It was lovely. PS The Red Lion is a different type of thing but I paid 12.95 there for sausage and mash and here it's a fiver.

Just returned from a weekend in this pretty village. Despite the weather being terrible, gale force winds and heavy rain, we received a warm welcome in this very popular little cafe. It is in a beautiful spot and must be even better in good weather as the views are lovely.
We were lucky to get a table as the place was full with walkers, cyclists and tourists sheltering from the rain, but judging by the quality of the food, I would imagine it is always busy, especially at weekends.
We had afternoon tea, pot of tea or coffee, choice of sandwiches, scones with jam and cream and a cake all for 6.99 each! Everything is homemade and very tasty, the choice of cakes on the trolley is great and you will be spoilt for choice. We will definitely return again when next in the area

I have been visiting this cafe probably at least every month since I was very small, it is run by two of the most friendly, efficient, chatty people I've ever met and I love it.
It is a brilliant stop for cyclists, and there are plenty of lovely rides in which you can incorporate a tea and a teacake in this beautiful spot.
If you have never tried this cafe's chip butties, your life is incomplete. The homemade chips are wonderfully hot so the butter is melted in the lovely cheap white roll (because let's be honest, no other type of bread is acceptable for a chip butty!) the only thing I would say, is if you are on your bike, don't eat a whole chip butty to yourself and expect to still be able to cycle up the hill out of burnsall!
The service here is the fastest I've ever seen, the prices are very reasonable and the food is fresh and delicious, not to mention the cake trolley, which is constantly filled with a big variety of fantastic cakes which you should try no matter how full your chip butty has left you.
If you are in the area or even if you aren't this wonderful cafe is always worth a visit.

Just a quick visit for a pot of tea but you could instantly grasp the nature of the place with the interaction the staff had with the customers. A very busy envirionment whilst we were there, especially with cyclists and I can imagine the venue to be on any route planner. A local treasure
