Goathland is such a nice little place. We got the train from Goathland to Levisham and back. The first train was the diesel powered wooden carriage which was amazing and we got the steam train back. Brilliant experience, the station is epic. Be sure to stand on the bridge and watch the steam train from above.

Took the train from Goathland to Grosmont - pricey but worth it to ride on a vintage working train.

Train goes all the way to Whitby so will be doing that next time

We caught the Coastliner in York and drove over the moors to Whitby via Goatland. This was just as it appears in Heartbeat but you don't realise how out of the way it is. The sheep are roaming freely on the village green, in fact over all the village. We did see the steam train too. Just a tip, you can use your bus pass on the Coastliner..

This is a true step back in time no wonder it has been used for a variety of film sets as well as Heartbeat

The trip from Pickering to Whitby is lovely and Goathland is a nice stop

Walk up to the village to the Aidensfield Arms and other places that are instantly recognisable

Depending on your age, this is either Aidensfield or Harry Potter to you! either way, a lovely station well worth spending time in before the short walk to Heartbeat country.
