I have stayed at this hotel (which in fact is mainly training facility especially for domestic insurance seminars, hence the name) several times as I grew up in the region. It's really nice to be there, it feels a bit remote from the city of Zug and Zurich but in fact you can reach it comfortably by public transportation (from Zurich approx 1 hour). There is even a bus stop right in front of the hotel ("Seefeld"). Alternatively, take a taxi from Zug (about CHF 50.--). A taxi is recommended especially if you have some luggage as the public buses have limited space to transport luggage (also especially during evening rush hours from 17:00 to 19:00).
The hotel is nicely decorated, especially around Christmas. During the rest of the year it's rather sober. The entire building has an atmosphere of an office complex than a hotel (again, it's mainly a training facility). Since of the business trainings are during week days, you can get great package deals on the weekends, including great breakfast buffet (for Swiss standards) and a 3 course evening dinner. The kitchen is quite good and these packages include also access to the Spa in the basement (however, the sauna is not always on and the gym is ok). You may also rent bicycles during the day (a much nicer workout. A bicycle tour around the lake takes you about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your speed).
The rooms are clean, spacious and very very sober in terms of decoration. Try go get one with a view of the lake - it's great in summer and winter time.
Try to avoid travelling there during local festive seasons (they have all sort of things, from summer festivals to larger amateurs soccer championships). These events can be quite noisy the action often takes place nearby.
There is not much constructive to say about the hotel, except staff and management could improve. Examples: I have stayed there several times, but when checking they don’t even know (nor do they care). There is no 'welcome back' and entry in their booking system. They treat you like any walk-in client (definitely no good client relationship mgmt). As so often in Switzerland, mind you if you like something 'special or unusual': the main breakfast room was cleaned on my last day because there was a big wedding (?) event the night before. I was commanded to go to the very front of the room, my wish to stay in the regular restaurant section made the waitress complain loudly. Taking care of guests is really not the top selling proposition of this hotel (but again, it's mainly a training facility and eventually they don’t have to value any private guests).
Similar on check out: even 2star hotels like to know how your stay was. Not here. The only question was how I like to pay. In short: the hotel needs to improve the management and the staff. The expensive table clock in the lobby which has not been adjusted for daylight saving time was a good indication of the imperfection.
