This is not an overall view of the hotel and restaurant which to be fair is superb. It is a review of an afternoon tea which we had at 3.30 pm on Friday 18 July. The service was slow because the waiter was alone and was taking orders, plating up the orders in the kitchen then serving them. The afternoon tea consisted of 1 small scone, a tiny pot of jam, a squirt of cream which wasn't enough to cover both halves of the scone, a jug of milk and a pot of tea which held 3 cups. No butter was provided. Pricing out each individual item the cost price probably about £1-50 for both of us. Price charged £ 18-90. Afternoon tea is a " favourite outing" for us and we have never had less than the above items plus a cake and sandwich each. This was robbery with violence. I must stress we have stayed at the hotel and used the restaurant and the quality of service and food is superb. Just avoid the afternoon teas.
