“Just returned from a very enjoyable stay at the Broadwell Guest House”
Reviewed 21 August 2014

I was really impressed by the effort the new owners Peter and Justine Shilton have put in to make this guest house like a home from home. The guest house is going through a complete refurbishment from the new security gates to each of the bedrooms which were spotlessly clean. There was plenty of choice at breakfast and everything was freshly prepared.
The guest house is conveniently placed for the N.E.C. and there is plenty of restaurants in the area.

Bonnifinglas is now Broadwell Guest House and it is one of the best places I have stayed!!. Peter and Justine are great hosts, friendly and helpful and the freshly cooked breakfast is delicious, poached egg perfection :-). The room I had was lovely and peaceful with a well equipped bathroom and the views from the bedroom are abosulutley brilliant. The whole place is so clean and welcoming with those little touches that make all the difference and nothing seems to much trouble for this lovely couple. To sit and enjoy breakfast overlooking their beautiful garden watching the rabbits enjoying their morning munch is a great way to start the day. I have already booked my stay for a few days a week for the next couple of weeks while I am working in the area, and Broadwell is the perfect home from home to start and finish a busy working day. Highly recommended!!!!

I shouldnt say this because the next time I want to stay here it will be full!!! This is the best guest house I have stayed in, from the reception by the owners to the standard of the rooms to the sumptuous breakfast, everything is quality and just as you need it to be and then there are the gardens and the location itself!! Perfect hidden gem.

Room Tip: All the rooms have views so to me it doesnt matter

This is are Sixth year running we have stayed Bonnifinglas Guest House .We stay for Three nights and visit the NEC Hobbycrafts show . The Guest House has a large secure car park and we leave the car there and walk a short distance to the bus stop. The journey to the NEC takes just 10 minutes. No fighting with traffic and finding parking spaces. It is under new management and they are slowly updating the rooms everything you need for a stay is there and the new owners did every thing to make are stay enjoyable. Have already booked for 2015.

I have stayed at this B & B every January for about the last five years. I go up to the area in order to visit the Autosport International motoring show which is held at the nearby National Exhibition Centre and this B&B is very conveniently located to the NEC. It is just a ten minute drive to arrive at the car parks surrounding the halls.
The B&B is located in a very quiet road in the town of Meriden. It is easy to get to from any of the nearby A roads or Motorways. There is a large clear sign outside on the road advising you of the B&B and there is ample easy parking once you turn off the road.
As I stated at the start of this review I have stayed here on several occasions. However I don't think I have ever stayed in the same room. There are rooms located both in the main house and also in a separate annex.
Most of the rooms I have been put in have been of fairly modest size. They have all been very warm and generally clean and comfortable. Overall I would say the rooms are basic and more than adequate for a short stay. All the rooms have had TV, tea and coffee making facilities and a small bottle of water and even a can of lager is placed on the bedside table! There is free wi-fi available which I have found to work perfectly.
There is a good choice of local eating options. There are several places in Meriden but my regular choice is the lovely Bear Inn pub just a few minutes drive in the opposite direction in the next village of Berkswell. They do a very good evening menu and I've always enjoyed eating there.
When it comes time to eat the following morning for breakfast you won't be disappointed either. The landlady will have asked you to fill out a little form in the evening indicating your choices and come the morning you will certainly enjoy the wide variety of options to accompany your main cooked breakfast.
The final aspect of this establishment that I must comment on is the very very good value you will enjoy. For my latest stay last month I was charged the exceptionally reasonable rate of just £25 for a nights' stay which I think is a real bargain.
I really would say this is a great B&B and if you have business at the NEC or need to stay just to the east of Birmingham then I would not hesitate to recommend this place.

I stayed at the Bonnifinglas for one night this week. I was travelling alone, but was given a twin-bedded room with no single surcharge.

The centrally heated room was equipped with everything one would expect - TV, kettle and choice of drinks, wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside cabinets, and a small table and two chairs. The latter were more like patio furniture, but served their purpose. The whole building is well set up with free wi-fi internet. There were a couple of unusual but welcome 'extras' in my room - a complimentary can of larger and bottle of mineral water!

The room had an ensuite with a good electric shower, toilet and wash basin. There is good sized guest car park to the front of the building.

Decor throughout was rather tired, with grouting around the shower and wash basin due for refreshing, and paintwork generally in need of a re-vamp. But other than a few cobwebs at ceiling-level, everything was clean, and I found the firm bed to be very comfortable. The guest house is quietly located in a country lane, but is very close to shops and facilities in Meriden village.

Breakfast was, like the room, everything one would expect, with a good choice of cerials, fruit, and several cooked options. I opted for a 'full cooked' and was presented with a generous plateful of perfectly cooked bacon, egg, sausage, tomato and mushrooms. My toast was white-bread only, but came in unlimited quantities. Service was quick, friendly and very polite.

At just £25.00 for my overnight stay, this is one extemely good-value guest house, and I would not hesitate to reccommend it to other travellers..

We recently spent a week at the Bonnifinglas guest house whilst visiting family in Coventry. We found the rooms were large clean and very homely. Lots of nice homely touches. The guest house is very conveient to Coventry, but also the NEC and Birmingham airport is only 10 minutes away. Yet it is set in a quiet country road...perfect combination! Barbara and Shelia were great and the home cooked breakfast was something we looked forward to. The guest house was also very good value for money, only 45 pounds per night for a large double room with ensuite.
We will be back again thats for sure.
