“A deceptive property!”
Review of Packwood House

Packwood House

It wasn't until we were inside Packwood and learned something of its history that we realised that all was not what it seemed! To all intents and purposes it appears to be a Tudor manor house, but the talk given by one of the volunteers tells a different story. I will say no more so as not to spoil the element of surprise but it does go to show that with money and plenty of leisure time you can buy anything... The gardens are highly recommended and the rather damp gardener on duty when we went was happily braving the weather and happy to talk about the plants and their preferences. The new restaurant has a more limited hot food selection than we expected and was slightly smaller too, though it should be said we visited during half term so many children were there. The usual fare at the NT shop, high quality and unusual of course. Certainly Packwood is worthy of a visit.

We took our granddaughter (2.25 years old) to Packwood House. Altough around the lake was off limits there was plenty of gardens to explore. The kitchen garden with a teddy bears picnic was a huge success and mini watering cans to help water the plants was a great boon.

We had lunch on site and thought it was standsrd fare and average prices.

It has been a nice day out and we will be back again to explore the welly walk etc.

Newly, tastefully designed and situated opened long desired tea room. Beautiful grounds and gardens (although the extensive lake at rear needs some work) interesting house. Knowledgeable staff. Good picnic locale for walks and kids or for just lazing about. Well worth a visit especially now it has a resaurant/tea room (and a welcoming wood burning fire and well stocked and managed kitchen staff) Don't miss

As a member of the National Trust, we paid a visit to a local attraction, who knew what a beautiful place we had on our doorstep. Something for everyone to see here. Absolutely stunning. Highly recommended.

We were staying near by and decided to visit Packwood House. We were given a very informative talk outside the house about the house and gardens and there were guides in the rooms who were happy to talk and answer any questions you had.
