“Great gardens, beautiful”
Reviewed 8 August 2014

Gardens very well planted and maintained. Yew trees also amazing. Best time to see gardens this year was June, all planted out in blues and purples and look fab. Wonderful dark poppies and mixture of flowers on upper levels by secluded pond area. Veg garden also very interesting. One of the best NT gardens I have visited. As a member, I have visited several times to enjoy the outdoor space.

“beautiful”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

We had a very enjoyable day in the gardens and house at Packwood . the gardens were a riot of colour, including the walled Garden. We also enjoyed the Carolean garden, which had a pond and a dry/alpine garden around it. The house was very interesting . Last but not least we enjoyed the new garden café, light lunches, coffee and cakes very tasty!! There is an area near the lake for picnics and childrens games available, i.e . skittles, croquet, tic tac toe, children appear to be very welcome. but they didn't disturb the quiet areas. Toilets In the café also included a 'family room' with a changing table and a toddlers toilet! with enough room to accommodate a pushchair well thought out.

“Tapestry Gardens!”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

If you enjoy gardens then this is the place for you. The planted borders are like a tapestry and the 'Sermon on the Mount' garden is lovely for kids to run wild, as long as they don't use the trees for hiding in! The kitchen garden is well maintained with helpful gardeners around to answer questions. Truly a 'garden to dream in'.
The house has a fascinating history; there is a member of staff in each room who will answer questions etc., but also are happy to have a conversation without you feeling rushed. Try to go to the talk on the estate history (about 20 minutes) before going into the house - usually timed visits. There is a play area, lake and an art project - 'The Follies' that is an update of Baron Ashes entertainments; also a number of walks and picnic areas.
It was busy when we went - hot, dry and sunny, but as the grounds are so well planned we didn't feel crowded at all.
The cafe is good with a lovely selection of reasonably priced food and drink. The downside was accessing the toilets as you have to go into the reception area, through or around the cafe before reaching them. - so don't leave it until you are desperate!
This is a National Trust property of which we are members - so I am not able to give any idea of entrance fees.

“So lovely I didn't want to leave”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

Packwood House is an absolute gem. We arrived late in the day so didn't have time to go round the house, opting for the beautifully planted gardens instead. It was a hot sunny day, so perfect for exploring outside. I was enchanted by the planting - bold borders with so much colour, height and interest. Truly inspirational.

The yew garden is a rare treat, and there is a special surprise at the very end (I won't spoil it for you).

There is plenty to do there, with the house, the gardens, trails around the wider estate and the newly installed Packwood Follies to enjoy. The New Build shop and cafe accross the road adds to the visitor experience.

We will certainly be visiting again and again.

“Great garden”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

The timed entry for the house works well, and the newly renovated café and kitchen garden provides a nice place to stop. The garden stands out at Packwood House so I would recommend going on a nice day.
