We had a lovely Easter weekend in a pixie hut. Have not been glamping before and not camped for years. This is a lovely little rustic site. The father and son team who own it are so helpful and friendly.
What you need to know:
You get given:
A single gas hob and kettle (under a canvas shelter outside).
A hanging BBQ tripod over a fire pit. (These are emptied by staff daily for you)
Picnic benches
Mattresses
Gas
Kitchen utensils
If you are camping there is an undercover kitchen you can use with gas hobs, microwave and pizza prep area, picnic table and board games.

You will need all your other camping stuff even if you are in a hut.
No electric hook up and fridge space is limited.
Shop on site holds a lot of camping gear and marshmallows.

Grounds well kept and everyone spread out.

It was a lovely peaceful weekend near Framingham and Thetford.

Basic but lovely.

A fantastic campsite with a great host. Thank you for a lovely stay David. A fabulous setting, great facilities and lovely walks, cycles and scenic towns to visit. We even managed to get to the Suffolk coast.

We will definitely be coming back to this campsite and will be bringing our pizza kit for our next visit.

Keep up the good work David, you made us feel right at home :)

Second time at Swattesfield and we love it. 1st time (3 generations) we all camped in our own tents. This time grandparents were in bell tent with 2 nephews and we had own tent with 22 month old.

This place is just magical for children. Safe, enclosed, lovely walks nearby, outdoor pizza oven that the wonderful bluff Dave will help with.

And if you're coming in August there will be lots of children! So the child free looking for a peaceful morning lie in might want to look elsewhere.

Yes, the toilet block is simple but on both our stays we found it very clean. The communal cooking area with microwave and two gas stoves is also a bonus.

And the train...what noise?! We have a main line at the end of our garden and didn't even register them until someone mentioned them to us. They're a couple of fast trains every hour, barely noticeable. Eggy smell...looking at the date of the reviews where mentioned likely to be muck spreading season. Not much Dave can do about that.

We love this place so much we're going back for a child free night in the Shepherds Hut...

WOW what a place, its just a field but what a field.
completely surrounded by hedgerows its contained, its safe and after watching 15 5-9yr olds playing tag with torches in the complete darkeness at 10pm as all the adults sat around a campfire i knew i had found the camp for us.

Everyone was lovely especially David the campsite manager, he couldnt do enough to make sure we had everything we needed including lending us some freeze blocks and swapping them for frozen ones when they warmed up.

there is onsite toilets that were clean and easily accessable, an onsite store that has all your camping needs as well as some other bits, things like milk, bread meat etc is available 5 mins drive away at the village store.

in the woods is a swing and monkey bars that my daughter wanted to go to all the time, as well as a play park and cafe about 30 mins walk (with a child).

this is not a large site with campavans etc its a very small site with a dozen or so tents, people were talking, chatting, drinking, eating and sharing together which made for an amazing experience.

The have a pizza oven on site that can be lit, the kids onsite loved making pizzas and we will be doing so next visit

thank you to all the people we met and especially the staff at the site.

this is a great site and we cannot wait to go back again

Room tip: beautiful little magical campsite

    Wife, 2yo and I stayed 3 nights.

Manager very accommodating on where we pitched our tent and in supplying fire pit etc.

Lovely field and part of the world. Nice local walks.

    Great view of the stars.

Downsides: eggs smell, train line nearby but fine, shower bit eggs too, and we struggled to find it at first (but mainly our fault).

This is a really unique little site ideal for getting away from it all and having a relaxed camping experience. If you don't have your own tent you can hire one of the on-site tepees complete with equipment, or one of the 3 small log cabins that sleep 4 each. The showers and toilets are clean and functional on the main tented area, and the washing up area unusually has bowls, dishcloths and washing up liquid provided. There is also an undercover cooking area with gas cookers provided if you don't have your own. There is also another magical camping area in the wooded area alongside where you can really be on your own if that is what you want. But most important of all you can have open fires on their special barbeques with kindling and logs provided for a small charge, and kids can run around, play ball, and generally do what kids do without constantly being told off. There are walks and cycles galore all around the site and the nearest pub is not far away. When you arrive you unpack the car and then move it to the parking area, so the site is also free of cars. The warden David could not be more helpful and seems to work tirelessly 24/7 to make sure you enjoy the experience, and he will cook you pizzas on his pizza oven if you ask nicely. If you are looking for 5 star luxury with electrics this would not be for you, but if you just want to have fun go for it. NB Satnavs will leave you about 400 yards short of the entrance - just keep going.

Room tip: David will show you to your pitch but you can discuss where you would like to be.
