“relaxing stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2013

My Husband and I stayed at the Parsonage for anight away from the kids. the room was very spacious, the view was of fields, so relaxing. we visited the spa both days. excellent facilities.....
the staff both at the hotel and spa were very helpful and very courtious. the grounds are lovely for an evening stroll. York not too far away. the restaurant is very nice, breakfast lush.
thank you for such a lovely stay

Room Tip: ask to go into the new part of the hotel. and don't forget your swimmers...

Room was standard and perfectly acceptable. Clean and spacious. Stayed in a standard room in the newer accommodation part of the hotel. Very good points were that the TV had all the Freeview channels and a 'guide' button on the remote control which actually worked. So many hotels only give limited channels. Also, the extractor fan in the bathroom turned off as soon you turned the light off. This was fantastic - normally annoying fans keep blasting away for ages after you turn lights off! The food was adequate. The spa is brand new and lovely. Really clean, new Precor cardio equipment with TVs in the machines. The spa part looked fabulous with a jacuzzi and 4 different steam/sauna rooms but I didn't get a chance to go in.

We stayed at the Parsonage at the start of June. It's lovely from the outside with well kept gardens. The staff were friendly upon our arrival and throughout our stay. However, we were very disappointed with our room as it was very tired, stuck in the 80's and nowhere near worth £120 a night. Average buffet breakfast. We were staying nearby for a wedding, so it was very convenient, but if it wasn't for convenience I would have booked the Premier Inn down the road for £30 a night!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 26. If you fancy a trip back to the 1980's, then this is the room for you, bu...

What a find! A beautiful property in a lovely setting not far from the centre of York (right on the bus route - £5 return - or about £15 in a taxi). The staff were so helpful, the rooms were really comfortable - the duvets were very warm - and the food was fabulous! It was nice to walk around the grounds and the spa was definitely worth a visit. I was there with three friends and we are already talking about making a return trip next year.

Room Tip: We were in two twin rooms overlooking the grounds (in numbers 34 and 35) on the first floor - there...

Myself and best friend stayed for a birthday treat February 2013, the check in was smooth the room was lovely twin with en suite bath with shower above. The spa was exactly what I expected... So relaxing. Nothing was too much effort for them, made to feel fabulous we had afternoon tea in the lounge in our bathrobes! The facilities we fab , the changing room had lots of lockers and a couple of room if you wanted more privacy. I did have a Swedish massage whilst there and it was the best I have ever had. We had an amazing day and I did write an e-mail to them about a couple of things that could do with looking at but did not get a reply.

There are a couple of issues I must say, it didn't ruin my day as I say it was amazing but the water fountain is down a flight of slippery stairs.... And the bathrobes they provide would not fit anyone who is bigger than a size 20.

Stayed with family group and had a great time. Lovely old building with new wing tastefully attached. Lovely gardenand woodland for children to explore. The food was great. Staff excellent. Long wait initially to obtain meal for 2 hungry young children as a wedding party was being served but assistant manager extremely helpful and resolved this for us when asked. Could have been informed at time of booking that there would be restrictions due to wedding party as this is obviously a popular venue. Only other down side is that children are not allowed in the pool at all, but to some this may be a plus.
