Stayed at The Parsonage for one night in late September primarily to explore York. Arrived mid-morning and welcomed by a friendly and helpful Receptionist who also served us a lovely caffetiere of coffee in the drawing room. She also gave information on the bus service which one can catch the local bus just about 20 yards down the road outside the adjacent church or drive to the outlet centre where there is free parking and park & ride buses. We had a superior room which overlooked open fields. The room was spacious, with a comfortable bed and was clean and well decorated together with the usual tea and coffee facilities, toiletries and free wi.fi. Although we wished we had, we did not have an evening meal as we stayed in York till late, but did have drinks in the cosy bar. Breakfast, which is buffet style, was excellent with cereals, yoghurts, smoked salmon and good quality hot food if you wanted a full English. Unfortunately we did not have time to use the spa facilities which looked really good.Should we visit York again we will definitely stay at The Parsonage.

My wife and I decided to stay here for our honeymoon and what a place this is. On arriving early we decided to see if we could use the bar as we was a couple of hours early "Of course you can....You can also use the spa if you wish" was the reply I received. We jumped at the chance and headed into the spa. I am lost for words. 4 relaxing rooms a swimming pool and a jacuzzi. The best part is there are no kids running around. We have 4 ourselves so I'm not anti children but when you want something relaxing this is perfect. We got talking to a member of this spa and told her this is our honeymoon, when we came out of the spa there was two bottles of wine awaiting us from this member. What a beautiful touch...so thank you to her :-) going in from this we then checked in. Yes we was allowed full use of the spa and we hadn't even checked in yet. When we did we was walked across to our room and greeted with a bottle of champagne from all the staff at The Parsonage. Again we hadn't asked for this so yet another beautiful touch. The evening meal is to die for we had the sterloin stake and chips that were as big as bricks it was amazing. The room itself (Double bed room) was great. En-suite with bath and the bed you fell into was so so comfy!! I cannot praise this place enough. Great staff, great location, great spa members, great food, great bed, 5 star hospitality.

Don't just read this book yourself in and be pampered. It's something everyone should add into the 50 things to do before you die experiences. We will be coming back for our 1 year anniversary that's guaranteed. :-)

I have just returned from a one night stay. We had a spa day at Cloisters spa, with a group of friends which was very relaxing and professional, clean and helpful. Then we stayed over at the hotel and we enjoyed a 3 course meal which was very delicious, high standard food! Compliments to the chef! And breakfast was also good! And the staff/waitresses was very professional, presentable, helpful friendly. Great We definately will be returning

Stayed overnight for my birthday and 30th wedding aniversary (week or so late due to work), and spent a lovely night at the hotel, the new spa and sauna are realy good and 4 types of room to relaxin such as salt room and aromatherapy rooms and of course sauna, jacuzzi, there is also a great gyn, but I passed on that, the room was clean quiet and airy, we ate in the resturant and enjoyed every mouthful of the food which was promtly served and very fresh, with a very resonable wine list as well. Staff very pleasant all quite young and easy to talk to but were very nice and nothing was to much trouble,to them, Next morning a smashing breakfast buffet style starter and then choice of full english, kippers (rare on menus now) smoked salmon & scrambled eggs which next time I will be having, all in all a great relaxing night in a lovely place and will go back for the pure chill out factor.

Room Tip: We were in room 30, nice and quiet but the hotel would benefit by taking down large llaylandi tree o...

We stayed at the Parsonage last weekend for our 3rd Anniversary, our room was tastefully decorated in a period style with a four poster bed and over looking the beautiful surroundings..
Our stay included both evening meals and breakfast both of which there was ample choice and excellent...the Cloisters spa at the hotel is located just next door , the pool area is very clean as are the Jacuzzi and the steam rooms .We both had treatments followed by afternoon tea unexpected but delicious....
All in all a really nice hotel the "perfect package".....

Our group of five retired ladies chose The Parsonage for a meal on Thursday, 3rd October, 2013. When we arrived, there was no-one at the bar, and no-one came to ask if we wanted a drink. After a long wait, we were finally served. My salmon was hard, I considered it to be re-heated and my Tiramisou could only be compared to tasteless toothpaste. My friends were equally unimpressed with their food. My son said we should not have paid for it! A shame for a beautifully kept building in equally well kept gardens. If you go read the visitors book before stepping in the restaurant.
