Quality Inn - Selby – Leeds. Junction A1/A63 South Milford

A recently re-decorated 1960’s low building, surrounded by grassy areas. There are tennis courts, and a new block is being built. This Hotel was once ideally placed for travellers up and down the A1. Then the new A1 (M) by passed it, making it a bit more tricky to find. It is popular with school groups.

Accordingly, in order to stay in business, this hotel has very attractive rates for B & B. The rooms are quite large, as are the en suite facilities. As is common with struggling hotels, the ongoing maintenance suffers. Some folk had to move rooms 3 times in order to get a room with all facilities working.

White towels in the room were shades of grey. The toilet tank took 15 mins to re-fill.

Food was pared down to the basics – evening meal being curry with rice; sweet & sour rice, or frozen fish & chips. Pity the inside of the fish stayed frozen even when presented on the plate. Still, if you strike lucky, this could be a cheap and comfortable place to stop en route from Scotland to the South.

My family and I had to visit Wetherby and always prefer a hotel with a pool. I booked 2 twin bedded rooms at the Quality Hotel at a very good price. We encountered a couple of problems, one with the beds being prepared as doubles and another with the restaurant food when a coach tour dined at the same time as us and it was reminiscent of a bun fight. On both occasions I sought the assistance of the staff and in all my travels, which are regular and worldwide, I have never found more helpful, resourceful and friendly staff. Who ever recruited them should feel very proud. So stay there....Forget the view on first arrival from the A1 .... The refurbished rooms are lovely. The bar snacks and breakfasts are sensational and freshly prepared. The pool area is tired but perfectly swimmable and the price is excellent. And once again the staff .... 10 out of 10!

Room Tip: Refurbished rooms 206 and 207 are lovely

The letting agents of my luxury dock side apartment in Leeds gave me 3 weeks notice to leave the apartment meant I was practically homeless! Thankfully Quality Hotel Selby Fork came to my rescue! I was 2 days away from being a homeless man when I casually pulled in to check the prices for this hotel. I received *AMAZING* customer service from a lady called Laura who took the time to go over the prices with me and also showed me a range of the rooms that they had on offer. I will always be very grateful for the great customer service that Laura the part time receptionist provided me with that night.
I ended up staying for the entire month of February and can say that I was never once let down by the excellent service when I was there.
What some people fail to remember is that this is not a 5 star establishment and it may not be the most sleek looking hotel, or have the best menu or orgasmic food dishes but at the end of the day it does what it says on the tin. It provides Quality accommodation at a reasonable price and is very handy for motorway networks! Had I stayed in Leeds for the month it took me to find a new flat I simply would not have been able to afford Leeds prices.
The Chef - Stuart was fantastic! When I mentioned the sausages were not up to scratch he showed me he was in the process of saucing more quality sausages and let me try some of the new sausages which was great.
On an evening the restaurant staff Kind and Alex provided amazing service equal to what you would get in a 5 star hotel. They were extremely professional and always had a smile on their face even after working long hours and very early starts. Sasha in the restaurant was fantastic as well her hot bread rolls with butter were the start of every meal i had in that restaurant!
The manager at the time I think he was called Ian was a true gentleman always opening doors and such like when my hands were full of luggage. And last but not least Hayley who was on reception always gave amazing service and had a great sense of humour - she had been in stitches. All of which made my month long stay not just a good stay but an outstanding stay at this hotel. Highly would recommend to anyone looking to stay somewhere that offers great value for money.

Room Tip: The family rooms offer fantastic space really big

my first thought is lack of porters when we had elderly people trundling luggage down flights of stairs along with walking aids must say a big thank you to the painter & decorator who stepped in
Also the food lacked imagination they did not cater for vegetarians & as long as we liked fish cakes we were ok
one night we I asked for ice cream & was told it was for diabetics only does the cook not know that ice cream is loaded with sugar ?
we were also told there would entertainment one night the lady came took 3/4 hour to set up sang for less than 1 hour then left very disappointed
would not stay there again

went for 4 days terrible food, had to ask for the room to be cleaned, staff were ok, my wife is vegetarian and having spoke with the cook she was assured he would do something for her but never did and didn't care about it, what a waste of a holiday miles from anywhere so all you can do is go to bed early or get a taxi into the village, no entertainment, drinks were rather dear the only good thing was the pool.would never go back.

Was very impressed by the helpfulness of the staff. They helped us with travel information and did everything to get us to our next destination. The hotel has a 1970's feel Crossroads look and is in the middle of no-where but staying that cannot be beaten on price. The rooms were better than expected with free w-fi. Pool was warm and spacious.
