“Wedding Wonderland”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 October 2012

Thank you to all at the Coniston for making our wedding day and our stay with you before and after a truly amazing experience and one we will never ever forget. From start to finish we were blown away with the caring and dedication of all staff and in particular a very special mention and thank you to Vicky Yates, who must be the most amazing wedding coordinator ever. This must be the most spectacular location for any wedding and the rooms and food are the best ever.

Room Tip: All rooms are amazing but the lake view is to die for!

We attended a wedding at the Coniston hotel, and were very pleased with the venue and its services.
It is in beautiful countryside, and the walks looked amazing. I did the lakeside walk and was bowled over by the scenery and wildlife around.
The hotel itself, was comfortable, the food was of a high standard. The rooms were lovely, we were in the new extension, and the facilities were excellent.
The of the most important aspects for me, was the staff. Staff can make and break a hotels reputation. The staff here were very good, couldn't do enough to help.
The only slight downside, was it could do with a pool/spa. That would complete what is already a very good venue.

Room Tip: Might be a bit further away, but ask for a room in the new extension.

An excellent oasis near to Skipton. Tremendous lodge for traditional hunting shooting fishing. We we walking so no need of the facilities. Bar food was much better than restaurant which failed to live up to first impressions. Veal overlooked and v small portion. Breakfast in the morning was excellent and hotel v comfortable and warm.

Thank you for staying with us recently and for taking the time to write a review regarding your experience.

It is fantastic that you have singled out the Huntsman’s Lodge for your bar meal and that an excellent Breakfast was provided in Macleod’s Restaurant. But was disappointed that dinner did not meet your expectation in the Restaurant as you can see from our trip advisor reviews we constantly strive to provide the best food to our guests but are always more than happy to put things right should our guests expectations not be met.

Once again thank you for your review and we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to The Coniston Hotel soon.

Kindest regards

Louise Bolton

I reluctantly have some negative comments, largely because we have stayed here on several occasions and it has been fantastic. The improvements to the hotel are great and the restaurant overlooking the lake and beyond with the wall of glass affords beautiful views. We were given a large room on the first floor of the new wing at the end of the very long corridor (which needed a good hoover). This was very well equipped with lots of storage space , separate bath and shower and the luxury of spare goose feather/down pillows. We had a nice evening meal with very attentive service and enjoyed watching the birds massing in the night sky. Unfortunately our sleep was disturbed by joyous guests, then at 4am by barking dogs which we were not happy about. The following morning we arrived in the breakfast area to find no table for two available so one had to be made up for us. Two of the bowls of mixed fruit and berries were empty, as was the creme fraiche and we had to ask for them to be replenished. Our hot breakfast order was incorrect and by the time we got the correct plates, the food was barely warm and the bacon was like leather - very disappointing! We love the location of The Coniston and I think we may return but hope that the under par breakfast service and quality was a one-off.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review following your most recent stay.

We are delighted that you enjoyed dinner and the ambience of our stunning setting. At The Coniston Hotel we endeavour to ensure that all our guests enjoy a relaxing stay in comfortable environment and do apologise that on this occasion we failed to provide this.

As for the service at Breakfast there is never an excuse for poor service and anything less is simply not tolerated. It is unacceptable that our standards at breakfast were not adequate, please be assured that our Head Chef and Restaurant Manager, have since carried out some re-training to ensure that this does not happen again.

As such a loyal guest we know that you are aware that we strive to provide the best service to all of our guests and are always upset when we do not. When you next visit The Coniston Hotel, please contact me directly so that I can personally oversee your reservation.

Once again thank you for your review and we look forward to welcoming you back to The Coniston Hotel soon.

Kindest regards

We stayed here over the weekend, lovely settling very clean and well presented. The new build rooms are superb sadly the older rooms are starting to look a little tiered but they are very clean.
Mr. and Mrs. Banister are just fantastic, lovely people . . . very helpful and genuine. The staff are friendly and welcoming . . . not a great deal else to say really other than I am amazed that there negative comments on here.

Room Tip: Sorry no pool or fitness centre but lots of other activities.

Not my idea of a relaxing night before a meeting.
Room ok by really not that much better than a premier inn. Bathroom tired and main windows very condensated.
Dinner in restaurant was nice. Breakfast a bit haphazard as waitress kept getting things wrong but I think she was new

Thank you for your comments made regarding your recent stay here, all guest feedback is taken very seriously whether it is good or bad and act upon it.

At The Coniston Hotel we endeavour to ensure all our guests enjoy a relaxing stay in a comfortable environment and do apologise that on this occasion we failed to provide this.

We do have an on going refurbishment programme in place over the next 12-months to include complete bathroom re-fit and soft furnishings in the main room.

It is fantastic that you enjoyed dinner but was sorry to read of your service at breakfast there is never an excuse for poor service and anything less is simply not tolerated. We do have an on-going staff training plan in place and your comments have been brought to our team’s attention.
