the coniston is in one of the best settings possible. we have stayed on several occasions. getting up in the morning and having coffee on the patio with the only noise you can hear being the birds is just lovely. it's ideal for family get togethers, restful weekends or just to go for lunch. can't reccomend it enough.

Having been to the Coniston Hall Hotel & Country estate on more than one occasion I was pleasantly surprised to receive an invitation to attend a taster day to experience some of what is on offer at the Hotel and estate.
I was greeted in the new Huntsman room, which was extremely pleasant with a truly convivial atmosphere.I then went outside into the spectacular countryside surrounding the Hotel and took part in a few of the activities on offer. These were:
Landrover driving
clay pigeon shooting
falconry
archery
All the activities were excellent and the instructors were both knowledgeable and good fun. I was then taken back to the Huntsman Room and was served the most exquisite lunch which went down very well indeed after what was an exciting and busy morning!
It is some years since I was at the Hotel and in the interim period the place has expanded in a sensible and sympathetic manner. The whole place is a real part of the surroundings where the activities take advantage of the wonderful landscape and everywhere you look there are amazing views.
I will definitely be back!

My wife and I along with our grown-up daughter and labradors retriever had to drive from South Devon to the North of Scotland, and needed to break the journey. The Coniston Hotel looked so good on its web site, that we decided to slow down and enjoy a mini break. That turned out to be one of my better ideas, as we thoroughly enjoyed everything about the place and its wonderful grounds. Nothing could be faulted, including both a meal in the bar and one in the restaurant. Most of all the staff were absolutely superb, balancing being friendly and welcoming, with being proficient and professional. We went on our way refreshed and determined to repeat the experience should the opportunity arise

My husband and I have had many short breaks and 2 Christmases at the Coniston Hotel. We have also taken friends to stay both from the UK and the US. I have also taken several coach parties for coffee. It has the most beautiful location and the staff are second to none. You are always welcomed like an old friend; it's wonderful.. Chris Phipps.

Room Tip: Opt for the 1st. floor to get a good view of the lake.

Absolutely Fantastic place booked several rooms for the wedding. Staff brilliant food excellent rooms very clean nothing bad at all to say. Would like to do it all again and we will be back for a long weekend as soon as we can. Breakfast was good and we had a room to ourselves so all the wedding party were sat together which made it for us. Big thank you to everyone there what ever their role. One person commented it was like a stars wedding that says it all. The views are fantastic and the Lake is lovely.

Stayed at the hotel as part of attending the Land Rover Experience, enjoyable stay in a room overlooking the lake and grounds. Huntsmans bar very relaxing with excellent food and drinks.
Also went to the Coniston Estate Falconry centre where we handled and flew several birds of prey, fantastic afternoon. Thanks to Mark for showing us the birds. His extensive knowledge and enthusiasm really made up for the freezing weather.
We will definitely be returning to the hotel, they are planning to build a spa next to the existing building, if this venture is to the same standard as their existing business it will be amazing,

The staff at this hotel are lovely and friendly. The food is delicious, we ate at both dinner time and breakfast. The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings and the view of the lake from the back is wonderful. Our room was comfortable and clean. Can't wait to go back!
