We have had a wonderful stay at the Coniston Hotel in a luxury room overlooking the lake. The view is spectacular.
The room size is generous. We had a chaise lounge at the end of our bed plus a table and chairs indoors and balcony with table and chairs.
The bed is raised up, a good size and comfy.
The bathroom is nice - the separate shower and bath is our preferred layout and the comp toiletries are very nice.
We had dinner in the hotel which was excellent - food was well presented and good size portions. The staff are friendly without being too intrusive.
We also had breakfast which was not as good as dinner although we came down late (9.50 - breakfast is served until 10 on a Sunday!!! So much for my lie in)
There are plans to construct a spa which in addition to all the other outdoor offers will really compliment the hotel.
All in all a gem of a hotel.

Room Tip: If you can afford the upgrade go for a luxury room with a view - we had room 56 - excellent choice.

lovely setting and comfortable rooms. food pretty good, except for a very average full Yorkshire breakfast. the real problem is that it seems to be run by numbers - very little flexibility from staff, especially in dining areas. no sense of trying to meet needs of customers, just tick the boxes. Is this part of a chain or something?

Spent (only) 2 nights here , and we were so well looked after.
Staff are very professional and friendly, and the food is excellent both in Restaurant and more informal eating area.
Enjoyed a lovely walk around the estate which has a beautiful lake.

Room Tip: Rear rooms overlook lovely lake

Exceptional views over the lake from the restaurant terrace has been my main memory of the hotel, but this was not the only plus for my staff. Myself and my wife stayed on a groupon deal, so I was not surprised at the size of the room. But although it was not massive it was very comfortable and everything you needed. When we went for a walk around the grounds, it was lovely to meet the Lady of the Manor House who own the Hotel and all the massive area of land that it is in. She was remarkably friendly and very talkative, it was also a refreshing site to see her and the Lord eating in the main restaurant with there family. You could see why all the staff are so happy and helpful as there bosses set such a fine example. I would recommend this lovely hotel to anyone as the food, drinks (Real Ales) and staff were all lovely.
