Absolutely lovely people here who serve great food and good ales. Would highly recommend this place. We rang half hour ahead and waited no time at all for our table. We were made so welcome on arrival. Everything was cooked home cooked and imaginative. Thanks for a lovely evening. Best meal of our holiday.

We headed out to Egton with our dog, having heard the Wheatsheaf allowed pooches in the bar. It does - but does not normally serve food there. Happily, the landlord kindly took pity on us and brought some menus. Hoo boy, are we pleased he did.
T'other half had belly pork from the specials menu and I had shoulder of lamb in masala, bacon and mushroom sauce. Wow - both were stunning and served with an array of fresh veg, but the sauces were out of this world. Sorry - I can't remember the exact ingredients, but it was out of this world; the meat (from Radford's in Sleights) was melt-in-the-mouth.
Servings were huge and came in at under £27 for the two and - believe me - this is restaurant quality at the price you pay for fish and chips in some Whitby restaurants. I would rate this food more highly than Ditto in Whitby.
Too stuffed for a pudding, but we will be back. We may even leave the dog at home.

Our first visit to the Wheatsheaf Inn and will not be our last. The food was fantastic with a good range menu. Special board had some fantastic choices too. The service was efficient and
attention to detail. The Landlord Nigel was very pleasant and made us feel very welcome.
Its been a long time since we have had such good food at a reasonable price

Booked for Sunday roast, while away in Robin Hoods Bay. Adult and child portions available £6/£12.50. We had a trio of desserts for pudd - £5.95. Absolutely gorgeous quality food. Golden beetroot was a first for me - delicious! Highly recommend
