Went when new owners took over and it was lovely. Went again sunday 27th May for Sunday Lunch. Absolutely wonderful. Tender and tasty beef, hot and plentiful veg, great gravy. Great value for money and fab service.

The hotel (pub) itself is fine, in a good setting with lovely garden. We turned up on the Saturday evening at 6:30, having seen that it was included in the Good Beer Guide. Having found a table and ordered drinks, I then asked to see the menu, only to be told that the kitchen was now closed due to the number of orders already taken. There was nothing on the blackboard to suggest this (indeed the only message stated that last food orders would be taken at [from memory] 8:30pm). Given that this was the bank holiday weekend, we would have moved on to another pub to place a food order before it got too late, yet had to stay because our drinks had been poured. This is either a very poor or cynical attitude to customer service (and, incidentally, the drink that my wife had - on being told that it was "almost identical to Appletiser" - turned out to be "undrinkable"!)

Alll restaurants have a limit to the number of people they can accommodate to ensure high standards are maintained. Restaurants do not have extra chefs on standby, even on the busiest weekend this year.

It is a very rare event when we cannot accommodate people we'll always do our best, it is never planned to stop taking orders, but we are a small popular pub and on very rare occasions staff have to make the call and ensure those who are dinning receive the best possible 5 star service and quality that others have commented on throughout our trip advisor page.

If you wish to eat at a popular establishment in future we highly recommend booking or phone ahead before you set off, especially on the busiest weekend of the year.

We cater for all dietary requirements including: vegetarians, vegans and gluten free but we do not cater for egosentrics.

I am sorry to read that your wife didn't like our Handpicked Cox's Apple Sparkling Presse, we've not received a bad comment to date, this has been duly noted and we will ask other customers for feedbaxk. We would have gladly changed it for you had you have said.

We made the mistake of ha into a starter, which was excellent.
Unfortunately we then couldn’t do justice to the main
Which was the Sunday roast lamb.
Tender lamb, brilliant Yorkshires, but we couldn’t clear our plates

Our second visit to the Horseshoe and gladthat it was just as good as 2 years previously. This is nothing terribly fancy, just proper pub grub done really well. The hand cut chips were nothing short of great and the rest of our meals were excellent too. Service was efficient and very friendly and they catered very well for my gluten intolerance. Portion sizes were generous and it was great value - £43 for two mains, an extra side, 2.5 pints of cask beer (great choice), a pint of cider and 2 large glasses of Merlot - I should stress we were on the train from Whitby!
