Following an issue with accommodation we had booked elsewhere for a break we ended up needing to book an alternative at short notice having already arrived in Norfolk. Kieran at the Kings Head was very helpful booking us a room, suggested somewhere we would be able to get some dinner en route and waited for us to arrive beyond the end of his shift.
The staff in the morning were also friendly and served us a good breakfast.
Overall good value for money and we appreciate the service we received.

We've stayed at this hotel before and liked the room and the food. We were due to stay again this month, but the hotel says they've stopped serving evening meals due to staffing issues. There is nowhere else to eat in the village, and they suggested a restaurant in Hunstanton which would have been a 20 mile round trip each evening. This is not a cheap hotel and is now missing an important amenity. We didn't fancy driving out to eat, nor a picnic in our room, so we decided to cancel. The hotel refunded the deposit immediately. I wish them well in sorting out the restaurant.

We stayed for 3 nights and were extremely disappointed. It was a soul-less place with no atmosphere and could not serve evening meals due to lack of staff. The breakfasts weren’t brilliant and service poor. Our room was fine with a very comfortable large bed. We won’t be returning sadly.

We decided to go for a walk using the kings head hotel as a half way for lunch
Having checked their web site it said open all year round
When we got there they just said sorry we are not doing food on bank holiday Monday
No signs up out side
Very disappointed will not go there again

Room tip: Think twice covid seems to be the cause or is it just laziness by management

It seemed rather odd that we paid a 28% deposit when we booked 4 nights back in the spring and then even odder on arrival when were asked to pay the balance immediately. Two days before our stay when we had lost our cancellation rights, we had received a welcome email saying there was no lunch or dinner available for the duration of our stay, So we were paying hotel prices for a B&B, We were told they could book us a table at a brasserie they owned in Hunstanton called Chives Two days later we found ourselves driving through Hunstanton and Chives was closed that evening.

Our room was good so was the bathroom but climbing in and out of the bath was precarious because it was so steep sided. Housekeeping was poor. My bedside table was not dusted in four days, and bathroom toiletries were not replaced for three days until we expressly asked.

Breakfast was the highlight and truly excellent and the breakfast staff friendly and helpful, but it was sad and not a good thing to see one arguing in public over her hours.

We think the hotel is maybe going under or maybe they just have a lot of drive offs? They were expecting a wedding at the weekend and the garden was getting a quick makeover presumably they had booked outside caterers?

After reading your review just would like to mention we take the 1st night deposit and the remainder nights on arrival. There is a 48 hour cancellation policy prior to the day of arrival, with a complete refund. You are actually paying for purely bed and breakfast, lunch and dinner is not included within your stay. As you state in your review we could book you a table at our sister restaurant, we did not realise you would take yourselves without a booking.

Moving on the baths, these were installed prior to us taking over the hotel, as for the housekeeping I am so sorry at the time of your stay we had two house keepers off with covid and obviously did not want them to come in with the virus and we needed to keep everybody safe.

No the hotel is definitely not going under as you have stated and as for the garden it is always maintained and obviously having such intense hot weather we needed to water our lawns and borders.

As you remarked using outside caterers for the wedding, we actually used our chefs from our sister restaurant.

As you probably do not realise there is a great shortage of staff in the hospitality industry and rather than not serve good quality food we made the choice to close our kitchen temporarily.
