Stopped for a quick lunch and chose a Steak Sandwich with red onion in "Brown Bread" at £6 would have expected proper granary bread but this was out a a packet and was more like the "best of both" advertised for kids on TV. The steak was vaguely warm and was accompanied in the sandwich by limp mixed leaves and a couple of rings of onion. Also on the plate was more mixed leaves and 3 prawn crackers (?). Asked for French Mustard but they don't have it. Beer glass looked like it needed a proper wash as we'll. So no, definitely not Gastro in any way.

.......not really. There are some elements which are good, like the food and the service, but fundamentally this pub does not qualify as a gastropub. I really wanted to like it, but where we were sat was freezing cold, the decor and furnishings are OK, but nothing out of the ordinary, and the ladies toilets were filthy. This place could be so much better if the finer details were examined. The "cheap and cheerful" vibe really comes through here. But I suppose it's about knowing what your market is. This is more of a family pub with the playing area outside, and there were loads of kids in the restaurant the saturday night we went to eat. I just feel the chef is in the wrong place. This is a pub with an identity crisis that would do better with the family market, and more basic fodder, like a carvery.

Had lunch here today. Found it by accident as the garden centre tea room down the road was having a nightmare day, so went looking for somewhere else.

Manager and waiter very friendly and helpful. We had soup and a sandwich and the mini fish and chips, which were both well presented and very good. Clearly a proper chef in the kitchen.

This is more of a restaurant than a pub. Rooms are well decorated and nice. Garden room lovely.

2 courses for £11 seems like very good value for the (good) level of quality.

There are a quite a few previous bad reviews but those reviews seem like they're talking about a different place. My experience was very good - can't say a bad thing about it. Perhaps there has been a change of management and chef. Don't be put off - go and try it yourself and post a review!
