“One night makes you want more”
Reviewed 10 April 2013

We only stayed for one night, but would haved loved to be there longer. The hotel was well staffed, with a homely, family feel to it. The roaring log fire on a cold evening was a welcome sight. Service was excellent throughout. The well tended gardens, the attitude of the staff, the plentiful parking, the quality of the room - everything showed a great attention to detail and a desire to be better. The breakfast was great, with the best scrambled eggs I've had in years.

On this showing, we would certainly recommend, and we look forward to another visit in the future.

The staff are very discreet and very highly trained, nothing is too much trouble for them. Our food was presented professionally and the silver service was excellent. Our room was spotless and there is ample parking. I have stayed many times and attended large banquets there.
Thank you so much.

Room Tip: Lovely views over the extensive gardens.

We attending my God-daughter's wedding here on Easter Saturday and we very impressed with the whole place. The wedding itself was held in the Heritage Suite with the ceremony and reception held in the same room. It's a lovely venue for a wedding and the staff were very well versed in their roles and everything flowed very smoothly. My husband and I decided to stay overnight and our room was fabulous (apart from the view over the car park). Hairdryer, ironing board and iron were provided, along with the obligatory tea/coffee making equipment. A queen size bed was a surprise and very comfortable.

The only downside, in my opinion, was the cost of the room, £130 including breakfast. As we have stayed in some very good hotels in major cities and this is a hotel just off the A2 in the middle of Kent, we felt it was a little bit overpriced. I guess though that anything that has 'Wedding' attached to it is always priced higher than it should be. That said, it didn't detract from our stay. As I've said, the room was fantastic and the breakfast was buffet style and very well cooked, as was the meal at the wedding reception.

Room Tip: We were in Room 22 which was lovely, apart from the view of the car park

This was our first stay at HH. Just a one-nighter, but it felt like more. EVERYTHING is just superb. This is not a chain. It's a one-off family owned and run hotel, they live in the building. Think extensive 5 star quality in all, plus a very personal & friendly approach from the staff ( right down to the maids ). Thanks to a new wing 3 years ago there is now a spa and gym. These are both much better ( and bigger ), than they look in the brochure, and they look pretty good. It's nice to see other evidence of a personal touch......there are well framed pictures of the owner's children ( at various ages ), dotted around the library and some staircases. As with other reviewers, my impression was that the staff take great pride in their work, and it shows. This hotel would be excellent for anything....... from a 1 night break to a wedding. The quality of banqueting / conference rooms is as superb as everywhere else. We will be returning soon, with friends.

Room Tip: Not all rooms are reached by a lift, so if you do need a lift mention this to reception when you boo...

This was a fantastic stay in a great location to the site I was working, True care and attention had been made to the finishing of the place to ensure you felt in comfort and well looked after. With ample accommodated for you it was an ease to navigate your way around the hotel when ever you had a need and the dining service was just great. A privilege to have encountered my stay there,,.

Room Tip: If you want to spoil yourself, stay here :)

We are regular visitors to Hempstead house, since we got married there in 2007.Once again,we were not disappointed. The service is always friendly and attentive. We had an exellent meal in the Lakes restaurant, and were treated as friends. Most of the staff ,have been there for years. They all seem to take pride in their work and nothing is to much trouble. We highly recommend this hotel for any occasion.

Room Tip: The newer part is preferable, but all rooms are good.Being away from the road,it is quiet, even thoug...
