“Great welcome”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

We called in on the off chance during a trip back from a weekend away and used the good pub guide to find the pub. It was a Sunday afternoon at around 2 p.m., so busy. Despite this we were immediately welcomed by the landlord who found us s table, served our drinks and took our meal order all within 3 or 4 minutes! The meal was excellent home cooking and the service was efficient and very friendly.

“A Jewel in Birchanger”
Reviewed 25 April 2014

One of the best country pubs I have visited and the food was brilliant. Clearly they focus on fish but the menu is great in all departments. Our waitress was brilliant as was our greeting. A must to visit.

“Better than the motorway services nearby”
Reviewed 3 April 2014

Good meal overall, for a midday lunch. A pity that the skate, which was on the menu board, was unavailable. Also, limited choice of main meal salads.

“Mother's Day Fail”
Reviewed 30 March 2014 via mobile

Overbooked and overcooked. Booked in advance and put in the bar. Food replaced but still lacked taste. Owners offered no sorries or discount for disappointment. Left hours earlier than intended. Tipped serving staff they were stars. V poor for £15 main.

On such an important day of the year we had arranged 3 sittings for everyone's enjoyment. Ample time was allocated to allow people to enjoy the good food and company. The tables in the bar are the most desired tables as they benefit from the warm original characteristics of the building. I apologise if it did not meet with your expectations.

“Bad Attitude”
Reviewed 29 March 2014

Went with friends to this public house for the first time today. The service was very good and the food excellent. The place closes at 3pm and at 3.15pm, the landlord came into the restaurant and announced in no uncertain terms that the place closed at 3pm and would we all vacate the premises. The ladies on the table opposite ours were still eating their desserts. I live locally and had never been to The Three Willows before. I was delighted to have found such a lovely pub/restaurant a short drive from home. However, the attitude of the landlord was so offensive that I will not be returning in the future and hopefully nor will the friends that we dined with. I think the landlord should consider going on a customer service course. I am sure that it any of his staff behaved the way he did he would dismiss them from their duties.

I have given a low mark purely because of the landlord's attitude. It could have been 5 out of 5!!

I am pleased to hear our service and food met your expectations and in your own words was deemed 'excellent'.
As a village pub off the beaten track, we do close at 3pm on Monday through to Saturday and reopen at 6pm. It is not viable in the present economic climate to open all day. I have checked back on our CCTV and would like to reassure you that the last customers vacated the premises at 4pm. I am disturbed that you found the landlord to be offensive. He is quite a village character who attracts many people to the pub. I can only assume that you misunderstood his mannerisms. There were other tables apart from yours still enjoying our services. The doors were just closed for newcomers. I do hope you will give us a second chance, and not judge us on a misunderstanding.
