“Wedding day”
Reviewed 7 November 2011

We had an amazing weddding 17th July 2011, i arrived the night before with my bridesmaids and had a treatment in the Spa which was lovely and relaxing just what i needed we stayed in a lovely room and moved into the Lyme room the morning of the wedding. It really was the most perfect day even the rain didn't spoil it. The food was amazing and received lots of praise as did the evening buffet. Nothing was too much trouble for the hotel, Andrew (the manager) deserves a special mention as from our first meeting we knew everyhing would be in very capable hands. Angela & Jill also looked after us on the big day too. The Sun finally came out after the wedding breakfast so Andrew came to get us and we took my husband cousin to take some pictures of us in the stunning grounds! We will be back in July for our 1st anniversary, i cant wait!

My family stayed on the autumn gold package during October 2011. The service and food were excellent, as were the liesure facilities. We stayed in the Green Room and my daughter in Brocket. We would have liked better lighting in the rooms and larger tv's with a dvd player, but that is only our opinion and did not detract from the excellent service, friendly staff and wonderful food. Would definately return.

Room Tip: Brocket and the Green Room both had 4 poster beds.

only one problem with our one night stay earlier this year ..............it was not long enough !! So we booked one of the Autumn Gold packages for 2 nights . We booked a spa room as it is handy to be able to go straight down to the spa in your robe .
The room was very comfortable , very light and lovely views over the gardens . Our deal included an afternoon tea in the lounge - delicious .
Th spa is excellent , my treatment was so nice and relaxing ,we also used the gym which has good equipment and is well airconditioned !
The food was superb , the only problem is deciding which dish to choose !! If you have a sweet tooth the chocolate tart is divine .
During our stay the service we received was wonderfull from the lovely friendly staff .
What else can I say other than we will be back !!

From arrival to checkout we received first class friendly service from all the hotel staff. The facilities were excellent and the food superb. In our two nights stay it helped that the hotel provided fine clear Autumn weather enabling us to enjoy their challenging 9 hole golf course as well as some local walks. There was no time left to sample the spa facilities, but our return will rectify that.

Room Tip: The balcony rooms over the spa offer wonderful views over the countryside and privacy inside and out

We celebrated our wedding day at headlam hall on the 9th July 2011 and it was perfect in every way!

Angela and Andrew were fantastic when it came to helping arrange our perfect day, they were on hand whenever you need needed them leading up to and on the day. Jill was also on hand all day and made sure everything was going well making sure we were happy with everything. Happy wasn't the word we were overwhelmed.

The grounds were stunning infact the guests were calling it the secret garden! Fantastic for wedding photographs and for guest to enjoy the lovely sunshine on the veranda.

The food was out standing beautifully cooked and amazing tastes. The chicken was cooked to perfection keeing all its juices infact a lot of the guests want to find out how it was cooked as it was beautiful. The evening buffet was also amazing so much choice!

The rooms again were brilliant, the bridal suite was fantastic and was big enough for myself and 7 bridesmaids to get ready in, it was huge! All rooms were very clean and had little touches to them.

The spa was lovely and clean and the staff were very friendly. The outside hot tub was amazing.

Overall headlam was amazing, very clean, from the moment you walk in to the time you leave the staff are so friendly and polite and will do anything for you.

We definitely recommend headlam we have now stayed 3 times at headlam and it won't be the last! There is not a bad word to say about Headlam Hall.

We stayed here for one night in July, and had a wonderful time. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel special, little touches like calling you by your name and remembering it rather than referring to your room number all the time just makes a difference I think. We were too early to check into our room so spent the afternoon in the spa which was fabulous, lovely pool and hot tub, and we each had a treatment which was well worth it. We were told when we booked that the pool might be busy as there were lots of people booked in - in fact we saw about 3 other people all afternoon and mostly had the place to ourselves, steam room and sauna etc included. When we did check in, we were not disappointed, we had a lovely junior suite in the main building, the only thing I would say is the bathroom was a little disappointing compared to everything else - it was clean and perfectly nice but just not 'special' like everything else. We had a 5 course dinner that evening, all of which was delicious and again we were made to feel like the staff actually cared about our well being. The gardens are beautiful for a stroll and all in all it is a perfect place for a sneaky romantic relaxation break - exactly what we were after!

Stayed for one night for a little break in January. We were not disappointed with Headlam Hall. Our Jack Russell accompanied us and was very welcome. Accordingly we were allocated a room in a block separate from the main hotel, but perfectly comfortable with large bed and nice bathroom. The room was spacious with comfortable arm chairs and table. Rooms in the main building probably feel a bit more in keeping with the country, rustic feel of the place. We asked to view one on leaving and it certainly looked very nice.

The evening meal, included in the price, was great. Drinks (extra) in the old panelled lounge before being taken into the cosy restaurant. How I managed the hearty breakfast the following morning I do not know.

The new spa facilities we thought were very good, with a good sized pool.

The setting in a little hamlet, with walks along the quiet lanes and nice grounds, helps make you feel you have managed to escape - at least for a brief while.
