I first discovered Headlam Hall in 2008 for a family wedding I fell in love with this place, from the staff, grounds, food, rooms, facilities!
We stayed in the main hall 4 poster bedded room with breakfast excellent stay!!
We loved it so much we visited again within 2 months just my husband and I we stayed in a Junior Suite above The Spa to celebrate my birthday we did an offer which was Dinner,Bed and breakfast once again excellent service and the evening meal was amazing! Full of taste and excellent produce.
Towards the end of 2009 we visited again we stayed in a normal Spa Room just as excellent as the the Junior Suite.
Our next visit was sometime later in December 2012 for the Christmas Dinner and dance event what a great experience, food once again was marvellous, service, band etc we stayed in The Coach Rooms which was an excellent room too.
The Spa is lovely great place to unwind and leave all your worries at home.
Cannot wait to come back its been to long!!!
Maybe for Our Wedding Anniversary this year fingers crossed!

Apart from the speed of the food service at dinner, and over-keen young waiting staff that kept pestering us & it not being very relaxing and annoying - this was a great present to stay here for 1 night, make use of spa facilities & enjoy the great food. The room we had in main house was amazing & comfortable & downstairs lounge areas & bar were great too!

We have visited Headlam Hall many many times for wonderful Sunday lunches and first class meals in the restaurant but this time we booked it for a Business function which included a number of local businessman and a guest speaker. The speaker David Thomlinson was from The National Beef Association. Everyone was happy as the food was superb and Mr Thomlinson even commented on how good the Roast Beef was...a compliment if ever i have heard one!!!! The Head Chef, Dave Hunter was introduced to him to be told to his face how impressed he was.
We needed the day to be perfect and Headlam Hall did not disappoint. Andrew, the General Manager and his team were superb and everything went like clockwork from beginning to the end.
Would highly recommend Headlam Hall for any function.

Visited for a family celebration which was excellent from start to finish. The Hotel and surroundings are excellent as is the food and wine, looking forward to returning in the not too distant future.

Second time we've stayed here. First time for our ten year wedding anniversary which was lovely and this time was for a bday celebration for our children. I'd alerted the hotel to this and said I wanted to make the stay really special. I asked for soft drinks in a champagne bucket and a card saying happy birthday. I got what I asked for, and no more, drinks all charged for, tiny card. Fair enough, just thought they might have gone the extra mile but didn't get anything, not even a 'hello' to the kids at check in. Room was nice, great size for family room and traditional style, smelt slightly musty and lots of flies a little off putting but I guess that can happen! Was a little surprised for a 4 star spa hotel that there was no conditioner amongst toiletries? Left me a bit stuck, asked at spa and reception but none anywhere! Maybe my mistake, I must be spoilt! Dinner in restaurant couldn't be faulted, excellent food and staff really put kids at ease. Slept ok although corridor bit noisy, creaky floorboards (fair enough?) and voices carrying. Breakfast nice enough although buffet uninspiring and surprised no baked beans?? Sounds like I'm moaning a lot, we did enjoy overall. Perhaps I was just expecting a bit more for the price we paid (vs other places we've stayed).

Lack of communication pre-arrival, despite the communication being us responding to an e-mail from the hotel. Telephone calls no better - put on hold and then disconnected on three occasions.
On arrival, perhaps the most hostile "welcome" we have ever received, from an obvious graduate of the Rosa Klebb charm school.
Very pleasant double aspect suite but poor service. Toiletries were not replaced and even when my wife requested more, she was provided with one set - for two guests!
The full breakfast was good but the remaining buffet selection was poor quality, unimaginative and poorly presented.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else
