We booked Carden Park through a link from one of DeVere's emailshots. £89 for B&B with afternoon tea for two with a free upgrade to a room overlooking the front (golf course). No complaints at all - the only minor mistake was when we checked out and the afternoon tea was added in error (it was immediately removed). We didn't eat at the hotel in the evening as there is a FANTASTIC gastro pub 5 mins away (turn left out of the main entrance). However, breakfast was superb with a huge choice and quality cooked food (local sausages, decent bacon, etc.). Main highlights: lovely peaceful setting, great room and superb breakfast. Recommend signing up for DeVere's offers as this is by far the cheapest way to stay!

I organised a large conference at Carden Park and would thoroughly recommend it. Located in its own grounds with lots of activities and facilities it is very self contained and there is plenty to keep delegates occupied outside of the main event. The staff could not have been more helpful and all our requirements were delivered in a friendly, timely and efficient manner and they looked after me as the organiser and there was plenty of staff about so there was always someone on hand to assist. The Carden suite is a fantastic room and the hotel made a real effort to convert it into a different room for our private dining in the evening, giving it a slightly different feel each night. Additionally there are lots of other rooms available for breakout areas and the hotel has lots of flexible rooms to cater for most needs. The food was more than adequate and served in a professional manner. The bedrooms are very comfortable. There is pleny of parking on site. The only downside is It is not the most convenient location for travel by public transport with a taxi from Chester costing approximately £25 and from Crewe £40. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and hope to return again for leisure so I can have time to really enjoy the location and wonderful facilities.

Carden Park is in a lovely hotel in a beautiful location, with a lot of facilities for families.

However, our impressions of the hotel will forever be clouded by the most miserable, unfriendly receptionist we have ever encountered anywhere. It was clear that she saw us as a nuisance to be tolerated rather than paying guests who ultimately pay her wages.

Other than that, the food, room and facilities were excellent, but the initial welcome (or lack of it) would mean that we wouldn't be in a hurry to return.

Mixed emotions here really on a quick overnight visit for a local wedding (not held at the hotel itself). There was at least one wedding taking place in the hotel and it was clearly packed with guests.

Lovely room, spacious and well appointed but there was certainly the odd thing in the room that a bit of beedy-eyed general maintenance could easily put right (e.g. quick lick of paint on the bathroom ceiling which was getting mouldy).

A huge superking bed that looked wonderful but was let down by the fact it was clearly past its best - it had two very saggy channels where other people's bodies have been lying for too many months/years, and these undermined the support and therefore the quality of the sleep. I seem to be on a run of staying at hotels with bad beds, which is a shame as they're in the business of supposedly giving you a good night's sleep.

Also, very well-kept grounds but the groundsman was trundling about at 8.30am on sunday morning on his mini-tractor and parked it outside our (open) window and left the engine running for 5 minutes while he pottered about picking up weeds etc. Just a really obvious thing NOT to do I would have thought. 8.30am on a sunday when the world is trying to have a lie-in! Just silly really.

On the plus side - had a great lunch in the sunshine when we arrived on the saturday - the bar staff were friendly and seemed to cope well with the masses of other guests all chcking-in and wanting a quick lunch before getting ready for their respective do's.

And we were anticipating carnage at breakast on sunday morning at 9.15am, but despite being incredibly busy, the food was great and the service was fine.

Without the poor quality bed and the over-zealous gardener, this would easily be a 4 or or a 5.

My Mum choose to stay here for the night of her 60th Birthday. 2 rooms were booked and i rang at a later date to upgrade the birthday girl's room and arrange for goodies to be there waiting for her. They got it spot on and without prompting arranged for my smaller but beautiful room to be nextdoor.

My parents loved their view over the grounds and their beautiful suite. We had lunch in the room which was tasty and very well presented. Later on we called in at the spa and Mum was treated like a princess. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, in both the spa and the main hotel. We had evening meal in the restaurant which was a lovely experience, and reasonably quiet. The staff were creative on my mum's dessert to mark her birthday.

We loved the cosy areas around the reception and bar where you could curl up on a huge sofa and have a natter. Yes, there were lots of business men around there in the day and others who appeared filled with heir own importance, but we enjoyed staying in a lovely hotel set in peaceful grounds, with friendly staff prepared to help make your stay special. So thank you!!
