Booked 10 rooms for a group training exercise. Staff were efficient and friendly. Rooms larger than expected and adjacent pub was good and accommodating. Located conveniently near to the A1 and Cambridge road.

As we expected a very good Premier Inn. Staff very welcoming and room very good. Would like a walk in shower though. Just off a main road so there was some road noise. Only problem for hubby was the pub attached ran out of real beer!!

When you stay at a Premier Inn you know what you will get right down to the picture on the wall. This was no exception, friendly and helpful reception staff, clean rooms and comfortable beds. Rooms are on the warm side but they moved us to a downstairs room with little sun after one night of no sleep, and refunded us the nights cost. Not asked for as it is a personal issue and nothing they have control over as no air conditioning in rooms. Excellent value for money.

14 of us spent the weekend here. Rooms are obviously fairly new with no wear and tear in evidence. Exceptionally clean and very comfortable with all the facilities to be expected. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Could hear the A1 at night but only with the windows open. The birds were louder than the A1 first thing in the morning. Food at the Crown Inn was very good and recommended. Would definitely return.

Premier Inn – St Neots

I often wonder if one day I will stay at a Premier Inn and find nothing to write about! Well it has not happened yet so here is my account of this Premier Inn.

I booked online for two nights, a Thursday and Friday and the price was very reasonable. We have stayed at this hotel before so knew pretty much what to expect. We were checked in very efficiently by Chloe and allocated room 41 on the first floor. The room was just what we have come to expect from Premier Inn, clean and comfortable. We did have a problem with the new flat screen TV. The sound would was limited to 15 and we could hardly hear it. Reporting this to Chloe she came up immediately with a male colleague and although they could not fix it there and then they went for advice and were back within a few minutes with the instructions on how to re programme it. There is a special procedure as all the hotel TV's are locked at a lower volume. So job done. Now that is service! Service I doubt you would be lucky to get in many 'up market' hotels so well done Chloe.

Now on to my biggest bugbear! Noise! The room is at the back of the hotel and consequently there was little if any noise from outside. The room now has been fitted with good doubled glazed windows. The biggest noise problem were the usual inconsiderate guests coming in during the early hours. Do these people have no thought for anyone else, shouting at each other in the corridor in the early hours? Well I guess the answer is no they don't. Selfish and inconsiderate and I guess they will always be there! Premier Inn have done their best to reduce noise in the corridors so I don't know what else could be done. Maybe one day excessive noise will be banned just as smoking is today. Maybe there will be a noise detector along side the smoke detector. Well we live in hope!

So that's the hotel now the restaurant, The Brewers Fayre Highwayman. Again pretty much as you would expect. I fancied a curry on the Thursday evening and would you believe it Thursday night is curry night. It looked OK on the buffet and all you can eat as well! How could you refuse? However I wish I had refused it! The chef must have lost his spice rack and curry powder. It was as bland as bland could be. I think that apart from the beef dish the meat in the other dishes was probably strips of pale looking turkey. The poppadums were swimming in oil as well. So if you like a nice spicy curry then give Thursday night, curry night, a miss or have the curry off the menu. The next night on the Friday we were in the restaurant at 18:00. Would you believe it there were no baked potatoes left. You don't find out what they don't have until you have waited 10 minutes in line to order! You then have to return to your table to ask what the other members of your party would like as there as there are no baked potatoes. You then join the line again for another 10 or 15 minutes hoping that you don't have to repeat the experience! Why could the person who seats you at the table advise you as to what is not available? I don't like this method of ordering. It is not for the customers convenience that is for sure.
So to breakfast. Pretty good, both the full breakfast and the continental. The new Costa coffee machine is a great improvement on the old jugs which were never very hot and always running out. My biggest grumble is the toaster. A two slice at a time toaster and the bread needs to be put through three, yes three times to toast it. When asked if it could be turned up a bit guess what the answer was. Oh no sorry 'health and safety' forbids it! You could not write it. So it does not take much imagination to see that the toaster is just not adequate for the restaurant at breakfast when it is busy. So come on Brewers Fayre get your toaster sorted out – it's not rocket science.

Therefore I give the hotel 4 stars but the restaurant gets only two.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the very end of the corridor. There is less chance of you being disturbed in the e...

We stayed at this premier inn for 4 nights, on atit all you have to drive through a confusing pub and hotel car park. The building has had new windows that open. Reception was good helpful staff, the room number 32 was the usual standard but was in the eves of the roof so very restricted headroom, beware I hit my head during the stay, breakfast is taken in the brewers farye next door, it is run down, but the food is just ok. Staff again good. Sleeping the beds were very hard and the pillows all four of them were flat. Thee was lots of noise from the A1 road outside, as the room was very warm, no air com .I would not stay at this one again but there is a newer one round the corner about 200 yds away and I would try that one. Staff were good.

My other half and myself had 2 nights stay at St Neots, it was very easy to find just off the A1. The staff were very friendly, the bed was enormous (could have fitted 4 in there) and very comfortable. The room itself was very clean with loads of space, tea and coffee provided, the bathroom was also lovely and clean no issues at all. We had a evening meal at the pub next door which was lovely, prices good too. They do Aspalls cider from the pump so had quite a few. Even though the Premier Inn is close to the A1 the rooms were very quiet, so had a good nights sleep. Would recommend a stay here you will not be disappointed.
