We have just spent an amazing weekend over in Yorkshire, spending the night at Bagden Hall Hotel. This is a beautiful building, we stayed for dinner, bed and breakfast and all I can say is fantastic! From the check in at reception yesterday to checking out after breakfast, we experienced great customer service, excellent food and a really lovely atmosphere. The only down side was, we weren't staying another night. If you are looking to relax and unwind this is somewhere I would recommend

i have just returned home after taking a friend to Bagden Hall for afternoon tea as a treat for her birthday. Fortunately she enjoyed it so i didn't complain at the time but to me it was terrible. It didn't bode well to me that I actually had to ask for a serviette and when it came it had egg stains on. The service consisted of 1 1/2 people. I say one and a half because one lady came to ask if we wanted tea or coffee but was flumoxed when I asked what type of tea was available. She went away and came back with a menu and took our order for earl grey and normal afternoon tea. By the time the tea arrived the earl grey had turned into breakfast tea! We didn't see this lady again in the tea rooms, instead there was just one person who seemed to be 'serving' everybody. Apart from when being asked what we wanted we might just as well as been invisible because nobody seemed to care whether or not we were enjoying it. The food was mediocre, the sprinkling of cheese in the cheese and pickle sandwiches was exactly that - a sprinkling and not even evenly across the bread. The horseradish on the beef seemed to be concentrated on one square of sandwich, likewise the mustard on the ham. The scones which seemed to have coconut in (fortunately I was accompanied by another member of my family who is allergic to coconut as we were not told what the scones were) were heavy and dense likewise the chocolate 'brownie?'. The hotel itself looks very nice but there was a wedding on so I don't think we saw as much as we would normally but which may account for the experience in the tea room!

The occasion of our visit was the wedding of my nephew, and we had three rooms reserved in the Lakeside annex. One room was for my wife and I, and the others were family rooms for my son and daughter along with their respective spouses and children. We were able to park our cars adjacent to the annex so we didn't need to carry luggage any distance.
Disappointingly, some of the lights were not working in our room, and there was a very obvious red wine stain down one of the walls. However, when these were reported to the management, the light bulbs were changed and a reduction was made to our room rate because of the wine stain.
These were the only issues during our stay. My son and daughters rooms were fine. The food at the wedding reception was very good. The house disco however was painfully loud. So much so, we had to vacate the dance room to seek somewhere where we could hear each other speak.
The weather on the following morning was superb, sunny and warm; and we were able to explore the gardens. There is a large lawn and a terrace which catch the morning sunshine. There is also a small lake and a very interesting little house that is reached over a stone bridge. The lake had some large Koi carp swimming around.
The breakfast - full English - was excellent!

Overall, despite our minor room issues, we were very happy with our stay.

A relative had bought us a "red letter day" experience for our silver anniversary and after checking the locality of the various hotels where the voucher for "Afternoon Tea" could be used we settled on Bagden Hall. We were not disappointed. The hotel was easily found, after following the detailed instructions from the hotel. There was ample parking and we received a warm welcome (the heating was on!) from the staff. The food was very nice with a mixture of finger sandwiches, mini cakes & scones, jam and cream. There was plenty of tea or coffee. The room where the food was served overlooked the front area, with views across a valley. Afterwards we had a brief look at the gardens and saw the rest of the hotel which looked very nice. Overall a "Grand Day Out".

We recently had our wedding reception at this venue, the day was brilliantly run by the MC Tom, following months of communications and planning with Sarah. The wedding breakfast was fantastic, with magnificent roast potatoes! The venue was beautifully dressed taking into account all of our requests on how we wanted it. The hotel has fantastic gardens and facilities and is an ideal setting for a wedding.
We had a suite room, which was very large, very comfortable bed, with a gorgeous bathroom.
Only point to improve was the breakfast, slightly disappointed with the cooked breakfast due to size and quality.

We needed a nice place to stay for a couple of nights whilst visiting relatives. Lovely property, fantastic staff and a beautiful location. The restaurant was very nice with a decent menu and prices were not too high. Would definitely stay there again.
