We've eaten here several times now and today's meal was amazing ! The landlady who is also the main chef really cares what food she serves and the the landlord Stuart serves the best real ale in the area. Single, couple or family you will need to search long and far to beat this place! Perfection!

We went to the Major last night, a party of 6 of us in search of some good local beers & food.

Well we weren't disappointed The Major serves absolutely delicious food and huge portions for a very reasonable price, the 6 of us, with a couple of drinks + a bottle of wine for under £90 - can't be bad. AND, I think there's even a special offer of 2 meals + a bottle of wine for £19 mid-week, bargain!

I would highly recommend to anyone after an excellent pub tea in Ramsbottom. Oh, and they have their own car park as well in case you are driving.

Read the reviews on trip advisor and thought got to try this place and yes it was well worth it. The gammon was enormous as previously stated. The food was well cooked and really really tasty. The establishment is a traditional public house. Will definitely return

Had a meal in The Major again last week with my wife and Daughters, and again we were not disappointed. Anita and Stuart are great hosts. Fantastic pub food , lovely warm atmosphere and of course a great pint. I can only agree about the gammon, it just melts in the mouth. If only all pubs were run like this.

Unless you have visited 1000`s of pubs you will not appreciate just how good this place is. Its a real local that welcomes people with dogs, children and even southerners!! ( see previous review). Regulars and staff are fantastic and as Anita likes to serve food how she enjoys it meat and seven veg is the order of the day. Portions are huge and so are the flavours as its all home cooked. The cheese pie has been mentioned in another review but the boozy beef pie, lasagne, and chilli are also worthy of a mention. The gammon is bigger than the dinner plate and the chips are three inches long an inch thick and piled high. The Sunday lunch is legendary so get in early to guarantee yourself a place. The extensive menu is also updated frequently with new additions so there is always something new to try. I have spent years looking for a local that ticks every box a real pub should tick and so Im happy at last. Thanks to everyone.
