“Outstanding!”

Stayed for 3 nights on our "mini-moon" just after getting married. It was absolutely fantastic! Can't fault it! Staff were so friendly and helpful - excellent service. Our room was nice and big, comfortable, lovely views, beautiful bathroom, everything top quality.

The highlight for us was the food....we ate here every morning and evening and it is some of the best food we've ever had! Breakfast overlooking the lake is so relaxing and we were always so full after breakfast we hardly needed any lunch. For dinner we would first be seated in the quiet bar/lounge area where would have drinks and canapes. Then through to the restaurant for the amuse-bouche, starter, main, dessert, cheese course. Then back to one of the lovely lounges to enjoy more drinks and posh chocolates. The menu changed each day that we were staying there so over the 3 days we got to try so many different dishes and we were blown away by the standard of the food. Can't wait to go back for our anniversary!

I do not often write reviews but felt i should as this hotel is truly fantastic! On arrival you notice the fantastic location overlooking the lake and beautiful gardens. We stayed in White Knott, located at the front of the property, which had a large balcony overlooking the lake where we ate our breakfast both mornings. The bed was very comfortable and there was tea/coffee making facillities in the room, along with robes, slippers and fruit. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food and service is outstanding, the staff really have got the service to perfection they cannot do enough for you. We would also recommend the boat trip around the lake with Ullswater Steamers, which you can get from Pooley Bridge, it was a fantastic way to explore Ullswater. We will definitely be returning to this little gem in the future.

We spent 2 nights here this week and had a lovely time. We didn't have a lake view room, we had a standard room, No. 22 at the back, and as we had our dog with us we assumed this is where they put dogs. Having said that, the room was lovely, plenty of room, very comfortable bed, ample tea/coffee facilities and a beautiful bathroom with lovely toiletries and as you don't spend much time in your room anyway, we didn't feel we were missing out.
We ate in the restaurant both nights and thought the food was fantastic. I'd read a couple of reviews about the food before we came and was a little worried, especially as a couple had said they left hungry. I'm not sure what they're used to eating, but if they were still hungry after the 4 courses then I don't know what would fill them!! We've eaten in a number of Michelen restaurants and thought The Rampsbeck was equal to them.
We found all the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was very relaxing.
The grounds are stunning and the view from the garden and the restaurant is beautiful. The hotel is in a great spot on the edge of the lake, and only 5-6 miles from the M6.
Although not particularly fast, we did manage to get wifi in our room, but as we were on holiday it wasn't an issue for us.
We would definitely recommend The Rampsbeck and would stay again.

Stayed here in December during very wet weather and came back in August. Weather not brilliant but at least this time we were able to enjoy the wonderful views of the lake and the beautiful gardens. Glad to say the service and food were still impeccable. Lovely room with four poster bed and huge bathroom. Very welcoming - we will be back.

I booked this hotel as a half-way stop on my way from Surrey to Scotland but due to delays in traffic, we arrived very late. However, the night porter was very helpful getting us settled in to our room. We had a dog and the hotel room had plenty of room for her and her basket. It was a lovely room and the bathroom was quite luxurious. It helped us get a good night's sleep before our onward journey the next day. We only got to see the views in the morning which were fantastic.

A real little gem! Excellent lunch on the lawn overlooking the lake. Very attentive staff where nothing was too much trouble. Beautifully decorated country house hotel in a spectacular lakeside setting. Pleasure to visit such a well run hotel where the attention to detail is so apparent. Well done !

Just had a three night stay here and it has to be one of the finest small country house hotels in UK.
The staff and service are above London standard in efficiency and attitude and go out of their way to assist.
I am not a lover of "Nouvelle cuisine" so the skill and craft of the chef was wasted on me, but aficionados loved it. They do, however, have a bar snack menu available daily.
The room was exquisite with views across Ullswater. It was more like a flat as we had a separate sitting room with TV and tea making facilities, and a bathroom big enough for a football match.
Bath robes and slippers all provided.
My only 'down side' being that dogs are allowed in the hotel - I do not like that, but is a personal matter.
