What a great hostel. 5 of us were booked in to arrive at 7 PMish. We were coming over the hills in the dark and took a bit longer than we thought in the bad weather etc. Belinda who runs the lodge phoned to see where we were when we hadn`t arrived at 8. I told her we would be another hour. At 9.30 we still hadn`t arrived but I called to say that we were walking along the railway line and would be 20 minutes. Belinda rang me back to warn of a train arriving in 10 minutes so to watch out. We arrived at 10, tired and cold and Belinda and her husband sat us down, made us comfy and fed us. It was great, the hostel wa swarm, the food and company was great and nothing was too much trouble. I definitely recommend a stay here if you are in the area, looking for budget accomodation.

My first stay at Tulloch Station Lodge and I was impressed by the warm and friendly welcome from Alan and Belinder. Food was excellent, plentiful and reasonably priced.

The fire was always lit by the time we returned from the hills and the drying rooms really do what they say on the door (which is rarely the case at bigger hostels).

I'll be back.

We have been coming as a group to Station Lodge every February, and occasional visits in between. Everyone in our group, which numbered between 17 and 20 always felt welcome, and valued clients. Even when, on one occasion, after we phoned ahead to warn of our much later than we expected arrival, our hosts still served us with a two course evening meal at 9:30pm, and of the usual high standard. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them. When we come down off the mountains, the sitting room fire is lit offering the warm reception we need. The food here is very good and plentiful. My wife always questions why, having been flogging up mountains, I always weigh 3 - 4lbs more when I return home! A real hostel 'home from home' at a reasonable price.

Stayed here for three nights with a group of friends. Don't understand previous grumpy review. Rooms, showers and toilets clean, lashings of hot water and a warm fire in the lounge plus excellent breakfasts and dinners. What more do you need for a cosy night's accommodation after a day on the hills?

We come back to Tulloch Station Lodge year after year as its such a good base for access to the mountains. Drying facilities are excellent and even after getting a complete soaking, boots and clothing can be dry by the next morning. Sleeping accommodation is clean and to normal hostel standard. Breakfast and evening meals are perfect for fueling full days of activity. Great value with helpful and hospitable hosts.

A group of us stayed here recently. Arrived to a cold reception and even colder rooms. Bedrooms and living area freezing. Were not allowed to light fire. Glad I had my sleeping bag with the quilt on top. Had to run around in shower to get wet and it kept going cold. Not what you want after a long day on the hill. Toilets could have been cleaner. Food was ok and didn't go hungry. his lodge would be value for money, if only they tried a little harder. I know times are tough, but come on...put the heating on and a smile would be appreciated. There are warmer lodges nearby.

This is a hostel so the accommodation is basic. It is very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The lcoation is brill - most of the dorms and bedrooms look out on to the station platform - but with very few trains its not noisy.

The breakfast was excellant value heaps to eat for only £5. The lovely lady who looked after us even rustled up some bacon rolls when we arrived after 9.

Got lots of hills to walk in that area so will be back.
