We came here from the statesmen rail trip and what a fantastic reception we had from all the staff. The hotel is top class and a warm friendly place to relax. The rooms are lovely. The evening meal we had was amazing. The weather was poor but the hotel and hospitality more than made up for it. Thankyou for a fantastic time, we will be back.

Room Tip: We had roo seven friends I room six and more friends in the braveheart room all fab rooms.

Thank you for your lovely review, its a shame you weren't here a couple of days later as the sun has come out and everything looks so much nicer than in the rain, maybe we can welcome you back during the beautiful summer months one day! Ian & Suzanne

We came to the Glenspean lodge as one of the choices on hotels for a Statesman Rail weekend tour. What a splendid choice - and the obvious good relationship between Statesman Rail and the hotel itself just made this even better.

After a long (but splendid) journey, and a short coach ride it was a delight not to have to deal with paperwork - it was all done for us, quietly and efficiently. We just picked up our keys and went to rooms. The room was nice enough, but truly saved the best for morning. You couldn't possibly see at 8pm at night, when it was already very dark, that the view that would greet you in the morning was so great.

But it's not just the view. The proprietors are very friendly. They helped to make the weekend more like a house party with a superb Saturday night gala dinner (more like a Burns' night dinner - including the piper and addressing the haggis). There's a wonderful choice of whiskies in the bar and Ian is very happy to help you through them with recommendations. Many hotels might do such things, but all the whiskies are a reasonable price too.

Breakfast, in the restaurant overlooking the mountains, was also just what you wanted.

It would have been lovely to spend a little more time and do some walking in the area; but even if the weather is poor you could enjoy your time inside.

Ian and Suzanne - thank you so much!

This hotel is in fantastically beautiful setting and is beautifully landscaped. Our room was comfortable although it was up two flights of stairs. We ate in the bar and the food was very good and the servings were large. The people were friendly. We enjoyed our stay (2 grandmas and 2 teenaged grandsons) and would love to stay at this hotel again. We were a bit surprised by the resident bird however!! We didn't realize he was there and when he screeched, we all jumped!!

Room Tip: After you pass through Roybridge and think you should have reached the hotel, keep driving... it is...

We were looking for a break somewhere in Scotland. Checked Last Minute.com and saw this hotel. Then saw all the reviews in TA. Booked on their Best Western web site. Same rate but it saves the hotel high commission rates. Something is wrong with the booking web sites today (well its been the same for years) forcing hotels into these high commissions. Take a 20% + VAT (common amount) on already reduced rates then VAT at 20% and the poor hotel owners doesn't have much left after all the other running costs.
Anyway lovely hotel with mountain views. Great welcome, nice room with nice furnishings and decor, cleanliness, good bathroom. Ate in the bar both nights. Home made steak pie not too great. Plenty of meat but pastry really hard and way too much gloopy dark sauce. Otherwise we enjoyed the food and plenty of it. Noticed HUGE fish and (proper) chips coming out to others.
Current owners have made significant improvements to the hotel. A personal taste for me would be to use the side/table lights in the public areas instead of the glary chandeliers which are too bright and not cosy. But that's a minor. We forgot about the games room and snooker table.
10 minutes walk from the hotel is the little church used in the TV series Monarch of the Glen. Do it! Perched on a hill it has an interesting cemetery and stunning views up the valley. We saw it bathed in an orange glow with the sun going down and early autumn. Atmospheric, Awesome.
Would we stay again? - definitely.

Room Tip: Pay the rate. However though we went for one of the cheaper rates we did get an upgrade to a mountai...

Thank you for your lovely review, you obviously know the industry well! yes between the booking agents and the vat man they leave the hotel with very little left to work with! often people don't realise this, it is nice when people book direct with the hotel. We hope we can welcome you back if your ever in the area again. Ian & Suzanne

Stayed here during our tour of Scotland. Lovely welcome, fantastic room with four poster looking out over Ben Nevis, and the food was delicious. Honestly cannot rate this hotel highly enough - loved it loved it loved it. There's a games room, free wifi, a gym and sauna/spa although we didn't use them. Staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough to make sure we had a great stay - will definitely be going back :)

Room Tip: We booked for "mountain view" and had a four poster bed with awesome views!

Stayed here about two weeks ago for one night midweek the rooms are very well furnished and bathroom well fitted out and very clean, Also wifi in the rooms. The hotel is in quite a remote location about 15 mins from Fort William . There are brilliant views from the dining room out to he surrounding hills, I had a haddock and chips for evening meal in the bar and have to say it was the largest haddock I have seen on a plate it was falling off the sides also brilliant real chips and salad. The meal was first class. You will find this hotel very relaxing and if you like nature just open your room window and listen to he many sounds of wildlife after dark in the surrounding woodland. Definitely recommend this hotel only down side it's not pet friendly as I would like to have used this for a weekend break with my wife and dog. Well worth the extra 15mins drive from Fort William.

We dined here and found the food and service quite excellent. Plenty of variety to choose from, and at reasonable prices. Very pleasant restaurant, quiet and peacefull, with no canned music to disturb conversation. Obvioulsy as we only dined here, we cannot add anything to the comments of others who stayed here, but their comments speak for themselves. Thoroughly recommended.
