“Cuildorag provides great food and accommodation for vegan families”
Reviewed 10 October 2012

We love visiting Scotland, especially the Highlands, and last year our stay was too rushed so we decided to spend a few days at Cuildorag, which is only a few minutes away from Fort William and the Ben Nevis mountain range. Lisa and Ian accommodated our vegan requirements extremely well and also prepared a vegan meal on one of the nights. The views across the mountains from the Superior Double En-Suite room are excellent. It is very quiet and peaceful at the House surrounded by the trees and plants in Onich. The bathroom is spacious and decorated attractively. Lisa is especially jolly and on our first night, made us extremely welcome. By the time we left, it was if you are leaving behind an extended family. Added touches included the opportunity given to our young children to feed the chickens on the last morning, and it will be a place well remembered for the deep scrub minty body shampoo that started fresh but certainly kept the body on heat afterward - LOL ! The weather was great - hardly any rain. Plenty of restaurants / take outs to choose from should you wish to explore further. Not only will we hope to visit Cuildorag again, we will also remember this as the occasion where all members of the family including our 6 year old, successfully climbed the Ben Nevis summit. Great memories, great accommodation. You will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: If you are a family of four (two children), I would highly recommend the - Superior Double En-Suite...

Arriving from Edinburgh on a Sunday, we had arranged for supper beforehand. The owner, Lisa Glaze, prepared a pureed squash soup (the dairy portions had cream drizzled on top, the vegan ones soy cream), freshly baked rolls, a vegetable quiche, salad, and baked potatoes. Dessert was a delicious nectarine, plum, and gooseberry tart.

Breakfast was ample: freshly baked rolls with homemade jam, toast, veggie sausages, tattie scones, fried eggs, fried tomatoes and mushrooms, and baked beans. The next day, I had the simpler fare of oatmeal porridge, which was so tasty that it made a convert of our 3-year-old niece.

We occupied all three rooms in the place. The large windows gave incredible light, even during rainfall. The beds were super comfy and the comforters warm.

They keep chickens (16 hens and one happy rooster).

I just returned from this B & B in Scotland. It was a wonderful stay and I don't usually like Bed & Breakfasts. The owners Lisa and her male partner were easy, relaxed, and have created a beautiful place to be. The upstairs bedroom with the lovely green wallpaper was a wonderful bedroom; breezy, comfortable mattress, lovely window with a beautiful view. We were lucky, for we were the only ones there at the time so had the comfortable dining room to ourselves in the morning for breakfast. They kindly lit the fireplace so we ate breakfast next to the fire and with wonderful guides and books right there to help us decide on the hike or walks for the day. The coffee was additionally delicious. Had heard not to expect that in Scotland but not the case. They live within a short walk of the shore and one morning we had a lovely walk on the beach.

Room Tip: The upstairs bedroom with green flowered wallpaper.

A most comfortable and relaxing place to stay. the room was comfortable, quiet and clean, the breakfasts lovely, and the views and nature beautiful. A great location with access to the lochs and mountains around. Hope we have a chance to come back. Lisa and Ian were very laid back and contributed to the overall relaxation of the place.

We were very happy with our stay. The rooms were huge and beautiful. Views of the lawns and flowers, with a bit of the loch in the background. Cows mooing in the background. Roosters in the morning. Very peaceful.

The bath was shared, but with sinks in the room that wasn't really an issue.

Breakfast was very good, with accommodating hosts. They let us pick when we wanted to eat. Loved that. The meat eaters and the vegetarian in the party all walked away stuffed and happy.

We aren't chatty people, and our hosts respected that. They welcomed us, told us what we needed to know, then let us be. I assume they would have been happy to chat if we wanted, but they recognized we more wanted our privacy.

Note that there isn't anything to do in Onich, other than stroll down the lane to get better views of the loch. But Fort William is close, and it's a great place to stay for a night or two when touring the area.

we're not vegetarian but love cuildorag house. the breakfasts are wonderful - everything so fresh & of highest quality. a quiet, scenic location with an endless garden of secret rooms & magic fairies to be sure. the owners are so sweet, friendly & helpful & the whole place is perfectly clean. we fit onich into every trip to scotland because of cuildorag house. only negative is that the street beyond the house toward the loch has been developed - but just a little. however we were sad to see the lovely pasture w/horses go.

This B&B has a great location, nearby Fort William and Glencoe, with beautiful views over loch and mountains. The owner is very helpful and friendly, and the food is very tasteful.
The room is average size, but nicely decorated.
