We were lucky enough to get a bedroom with a view but found the evening meal didn't live up to expectations! I ordered scallops for a starter and couldn't believe that it consisted of just one scallop plus a leaf of lettuce! Seemed to be a shortage of staff as the person who worked in Reception also appeared as our waiter for breakfast, he was very dishevelled in appearance which was rather offputting and he didn't look that clean either!

We are not usually complainers and have stayed in lovely hotels and b&b's advised by Trip Advisor reviews. However, Our stay in lodge on the loch hotel Onich proved to be one stay I would rather forget!

We arrived to a cold unwelcome greeting from the reception staff, only to be showed up to a tired dark bedroom. This bedroom was certainly not what we had expected as 'airy and bright' and even though the view was lovely, the poor decor, state and uncleanliness of the room completely spoilt our stay and experience!

Firstly, wall paper was peeling of the walls, the radiator in the bathroom had mould and rust growing on it and the bed mattress was certainly not something I was willing to sleep on (leaving me to sleep on the top of the bed) The mattress was tired, old and lumpy and my partner who travels a lot said it was itchy, unbalanced and the most awful bed he had ever slept in!!

Before we retired to bed (after having taken the safest option of eating out) we rolled down the tired old bed throw, which disgustingly had huge tea stains and damp covering the underside! I felt sick!!!

When I took the photo down to reception, I was cheekily asked if we had done this ourselves, to which I said they were welcome to come and see the covers which they did. After seeing it, the receptionist sheepishly took the cover away.

The spa bath was nice, although after a hideous start to our stay, we noticed other problems such as windows not opening (causing condensation in the room), chipped sideboards, peeling wallpaper and shoddy workmanship!! Luxury was definitely NOT how I would describe it.

Our room name was printed cheaply on paper and inserted into a cheap holder on the door- 'comfort crusade' it was not!!

After complaining the night before and being told there were no more available rooms, we were informed the manager would chat to us the next morning. However, this did not happen and we were met by cold, defensive and rude reception staff who just held out their hand and asked how we would be paying. They didn't listen to us and didn't seem to want to!!!

Our stay cost £89 without apologies, amendments or general concern over our nightmare stay!!!!

We left feeling disheartened and generally angry that our stay was not pleasurable to say the least!

Looking at other mixed reviews it seems lodge on the loch hotel strives to be luxurious but fails miserably due to shoddy cleanliness, disgusting customer service and terrible upkeep! They need to get the basics right ie: clean rooms with comfortable mattresses before installing spa baths!

Good food, good value too, with great flavours particularly the Italian dishes- real home cooking. Nice relaxing atmosphere with superb views of sunset over the mountains, friendly staff, wifi, good Italian wine, glad we popped in for our tea!

My partner and I had a two night stay at this hotel, To which we both found an experience, Not in a bad way however. The first thing that struck us as we were getting shown to our room. As we were being shown. We heard a dog bark in the room next door and also the room that we were being shown wasn't the premium room in which we had requested some Months prior to our visit.
We were therefore shown to our correct room. However please note this hotel is dog friendly and there were 3 dogs staying during our visit. However none caused any issues and were well behaved. Our room was clean and spacious. The décor of the hotel had a somewhat body and soul décor which looked a little tired, but non the less it gave a relaxing ambiance and the setting of the hotel was lovely over looking the loch.
What we did find a nuisance however is that no cash was allowed to be transacted when purchasing items from the bar, and all had to be charged to the room, which was a little inconveinient. All the staff were very helpful, however we found it strange that the oldest person running it was 30years old , not that this was an issue, but did seem strange. The bar area was a very snug little area. And the bar had a very good range of drinks.
We decided to eat in the hotel restaurant on the first night. And to be perfectly frank this was one of the worst meals I had ever had anywhere in my life. My lentil soup was so thick and resembled something like a porridge lol, And also was so tasteless. After it being returned, am guessing after some water then sometime in the microwave. Never really made any difference. My main meal of venison, again this was some what chewy and tasteless again, although it was edible, but the meat was not very tender. My partner also had a scallop ( singular) And again this was not very nice. Over all our evening dining experience was not very good and therefore we decided against a sweet.. The second night we ate in town. Breakfast however was adequate but nothing special.
There was no lights on in the evening outside the hotel and it was extremely dark especially as there was also no street lighting. So care & a torch to hand would be adviseable.

All in all we did actually enjoy our stay at this hotel, as we found it very comfortable. Would I return, Yes I would and would be a good place for an over night stop on route elsewhere.
The staff were friendly, and helpful and very polite at all times

Room Tip: This hotel is dog friendly,,

Stayed here for one night. After an initial hiccup with our reservation, we were given a lovely room overlooking the loch - the Rennie Mackintosh room. It was very clean and had a lovely bathroom although the spa back was out of order. Room was a bit cold to start with and took a while to warm up. We also had a bottle of bubbly and chocs included in the price. Evening meal was very nice and breakfast more than adequate. The hotel itself was a bit quiet but that's exactly what we were looking for. The views from the hotel were stunning. Staff were very nice and friendly. Would stay here again.

We booked the Lodge on the Loch for an overnight stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary and on our arrival we were so pleased with both our room and the hotel that we extended our stay by another night. Leon, the manager, could not do enough for us and both he an his staff made our stay very special.
We both had a wonderful time and were treated with great courtesey.
Thanks to Leon and his staff for a wonderful experience.

Booked this as a little birthday get away. Rooms were big and spacious, clean and warm. Fantastic big roll top bath and a huge bathroom. Staff were soo friendly and nothing was a bother. Dinner was absolutely delicious as was breakfast. Prices were competative and for such an enjoyable weekend it really was a bargain. Can't wait to come back again :-)
