“Lovely, friendly place in beautiful setting”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

I'm very late in making this review - we were there in June.

We drove through some of the most beautiful countryside we've ever seen to get there, and went to the WRONG DOOR - we went to the place next-door, which had a "Camus Lodge" sign, or something like that. This was, most definitely NOT, a B&B - I was moderately horrified till we agreed that I was at the wrong place and we carried on next door.

Camus Lodge is absolutely beautiful. Our host, Alistair Campbell, RAN out to greet us and took our bags in - chatting in the most companionable way. This was one of the places that we regretted that we were just spending one night at most of our B&Bs as we toured a LOT of territory over three weeks. Our hosts couldn't have been more sociable and interesting and friendly. We were directed to a very nice restaurant, and honestly just couldn't have enjoyed out setting there in the Glencoe Valley any more. It is just breathtaking there.

The B&B is beautiful, and our room, a family room with two beds and an ensuite bathroom, was huge, immaculate, and extremely attractive and comfortable. I think it was probably the prettiest room we stayed in during our entire vacation.

The garden is just so abundant and fragrant. The lake and mountains are just on the other side of the road, and once the fog lifted the next morning, there it was, stunning us. We had a very companionable breakfast, and a lingering checkout as we talked about some of the local history.

I would stay there again in a heartbeat, and long to go back. Onich is a tiny gem, and this is a wonderful B&B.

Too bad this beautiful Victorian house is stuck to the road; the road that connects Glasgow to the north.
The rooms are clean and spacious and breakfast is good.
Wi-fi was hard to catch in the room, we had to go out to be able to connect.
You hear lorries until midnight and very early in the morning.
The owners are attentive, but I won't choose Camus house again.

Our only regret was that we could only stay one night as we were on our way to Skye from Edinburgh. The location was iconically Scottish with a beautiful view of the Loch from our bedroom. Everything was clean and welcoming. Alastair and Louise were charming hosts and even insisted that we take their road atlas with us as we left.

It was an absolute delight to stay at Camus House recently for three nights. From the moment we arrived Alastair and Louise made us feel so welcome, but even before that the communication from these ideal hosts was exceptional, with driving directions, recommendations of places to eat dinner and sightseeing possibilities all explained with great thoughtfulness. Our room was spotlessly clean, spacious, beautifully furnished, comfortable and had incredible views over Loch Linnhe and farms to the mountains from the bay window. Camus House was an ideal location from which to take day trips to explore the beautiful area after scrumptious breakfasts. Louise and Alastair are such warm, friendly and helpful hosts who pay great attention to detail and they ensured our stay at Camus House was perfect, a great experience we will always treasure.

A lovely warm welcome awaits you at Camus House. Alastair and Louise are such lovely hosts, genuinely friendly without being in any way imposing. The house is in a wonderful location with splendid views over the Loch and to the mountains beyond. Our room was immaculately clean with a very comfortable bed and fabulous views. If you are looking for a relaxing, clean and friendly B & B where you are instantly made to feel at home, then Camus House has it all. Looking forward to our return next year.

If you ever have the pleasure of driving through the northwest highlands and want the perfect bed and breakfast experience, do not pass the Camus House in Onich, Scotland. Perfectly located for day trips to Fort William and Inverness, but so friendly and charming you may not want to leave. Ask for a room facing the lochs and you will have magnificent views from the bay windows within a spotless and perfectly appointed room. Gracious hosts, wifi, beautiful gardens, full Scottish breakfasts, and a comfortable lounge complete the package. Alastair and Louise could not have been more accomodating and truly seem to enjoy taking care of their guests. I look forward to returning again soon and encourage visiting the area to do the same!
