“A great alternative to the City of Dundee”

Couldn't disagree more strongly with the negative reviews of this establishment. I have stayed there in 2002, 2003 & 2004 and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The last 2 years were group bookings I organised and I have had no negative feedback. The hosts are warm & friendly and the fayre is reasonable priced. If I had wanted to stay in a 5 star hotel and eaten gourmet food then that is exactly what I would have done. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

I have now stayed at Longforgan Coaching Inn three times since 2001 and on each occasion have received a warm and friendly welcome.

Its character comes from not only being at the heart of the local community but also by offering excellent value accommodation and fayre to both the business and holiday traveller.

Longforgan is a great location to explore from -

Take a trip North to Coupar Angus, Blairgowrie and through Glen Shee into Braemar and Royal Balmoral on the River Dee .. truly spectacular ...

Not forgetting Dundee with its infamous Tay Bridge and many more tourist attractions ...

,,, and of course the golfers have both St Andrews and Carnoustie within a 20 mile radius ! .

There is easy access from the Inn to the fast A90 into Perth and on to Edinburgh or in the opposite direction to the East Coast towns of Arbroath, Montrose, Stonehaven, and Aberdeen.

The food on offer at the Coaching Inn is excellent value. On offer is a fixed price menu with a good selection or if you want to upgrade from the entry level menu, there are a whole range of cullinary goodies to choose from.

The accommodation comprises rooms in the main house (Inn) with a modern purpose built barn conversion offering many rooms on two floors around a central courtyard. I have stayed in both and whilst the Courtyard conversion is more modern, they are both fully equiped, very clean and tidy.

Ally and Shirley will make you very welcome and do whatever they can to make your stay with them relaxing and enjoyable.

I have no hesitation in adding the above as my personal recommendation.

There are some lovely little gastro-pubs in small villages throughout Scotland. This isn't one of them. The food is simply awful - majoring in deep-fried everything. Menu seems to date from the 70's (prawns Marie-Rose, peach melba). Accommodation tatty & none too clean. Stay away.

I spent two nights in this small hotel/pub in 2001. The location is central to the village, the food was basic but very good (and cheap).
The rooms were nice and the staff very friendly.

Having seen the kitchen, I would strongly suggest that you give this establishment a wide berth. Let's just say that the health and wellbeing of the customer is'nt a very high priority for the kitchen staff...or the manager for that matter!
