First sight of outside of building...tatty old ramp up to front door....door on right has big chunk of rotted wood missing, paint in very poor repair...first impressions not so good.
Second impression, on entering...the smell of damp/boiled cabbage/gas leak/elderly Aunt's house....not a good start!!
First table offered by a draughty window on a cold evening - fair play, the staff gave us another warmer table, after some air sucking through teeth from head waitress , saying that they had lots more people booked in...we were the only one s in there!!!
Once the food arrived, all feelings of trepidation disappeared, smoked haddock chowder and parmesan topping - heavenly!! celeriac soup a dream too!
Main course, steak cooked to perfection, chicken dish a bit on the dry side and bland sauce....
overall, top marks to the young ladies waiting table, lots of smiles and very friendly....
evening slightly spoiled by the 'Peroni' Cheshire set on the adjoining table...loud and brash!!!
