“Great Stay”
Reviewed 2 March 2014 via mobile

Good hotel, stayed in one of the refurbished rooms, friendly efficient staff.

Good breakfast, served by attentive and friendly staff, excellent pub down by the river where we ate in the evening on recommendation from the receptionist.

To sum up everything you would expect from a good hotel, after a recent disappointing stay at another near to Chester hotel, we will definitely be returning to Rosset hall again in the future.

Had a lovely weekend away at a Michael bubble tribute night . Checked into a lovely room unfortunately the expel air in bathroom would not turn off , reported it to the manager and he sorted it straight away. The food and entertainment was excellent

First Impressions of Rossett Hall as I pulled into the car park were positive, grand looking 1700's building with Oscars Restaurant and plenty of spaces free...

It is a pleasant walk down to the reception desk, however I was greeted by 2 young girls who seemed uninterested at best as there was a young guy who was either or contractor or guest holding their attention.

I was given my pass card and directed to room 5 which is at the end of the ground floor corridor.

First impressions the room looked fairly basic and dated, in need of some investment, however upon further inspection a host of cleanliness issues appeared. I will be attaching photos to back up the following:

BATHROOM:

The toilet looked like it was stained by the previous person, the cleaner had left it uncleaned and not desirable....A squashed mosquito on the ceiling also greeted me with broken wings, the sink is cracked quite badly and the ledge where the radiator pipes are boxed in are dusty and filled with hair from end to end.

ROOM:

The two single beds are both uncomfy and uneven, the bed by the window has quite a high head end and you can feel the slope to where your feet rest, not great.. In the guest information folder its states that all rooms have a thermostatic control on the radiator, this is true, however mine did not work so therefore my room was unbearably hot constantly. Uncomfortable isn't the word. Please watch out when you enter the room as there is a nail/screw protruding from the wall, I presume this is where the fire exit plan is meant to be, myself being 6"4 could potentially scrape my temple by this. The carpet is noticeably stained in several areas and around the bin there are stains on the wall like an arc of dirt... The windows are mouldy and black and in bad condition, I can't imagine these have seen a cloth in many moons. There are bedside lamps for your enjoyment, mine however did not have a bulb in. No reading for me... Come on people, this is easy. If you like cobwebs then this is your place, there are cobwebs in every corner at every height, cobwebs from lights, cobwebs in the bathroom, some fairly substantial. These must have dodged the feather duster... The top of the mirror has a thick dust layer, nice and fluffy for your comfort.

All in all I thought that the recommendation would have had merit coming from a fellow colleague. However the recommendation will end with me. When I return to North Wales I will not be returning.

Recently stayed here and the welcome was very basic, no description of where the facilities were. The room had cracks and dirty marks on 2 of the walls and difficult to watch certain channels on the tv due to reception. Free wifi was great and considering you had to stand in the car park to use your mobile was a life saver.
Food good and facilities very good but confusing to walk through to breakfast - update signage.
Some of the team could use a refresh on service

Very clean, tidy and very friendly hotel. Has a period/modern atmosphere to it which we liked a lot. The only flaw I have with the hotel is more than once we wasn't allowed through a certain part of the building to gain access to the bar because of a morning conference being taken place which in turn we had to walk around the outside of the building just to get to the bar/breakfast area. Breakfast didn't finish till 10:30 so hold the conference at 11. Other than that it was really nice

We have recently returned from a weekend break in Rossett Hall Hotel. The Hotel was lovely, the staff couldn't do enough for you, Oscars restaurant was a lovely relaxing place to eat and relax, the food was exceptional, however what lets it down is the housekeeping. We stayed in room 13 and on the surface it looked clean and tidy, but when you took a closer look at the room, it does not come up to our expectations. The room has been obviously redecorated and it is of a good standard however there were giant cobwebs in the lamp shades, there was a lot of dust and dirt behind the bed. The en suite was dirty with what looked liked some kind of tea, coffee or some other type of liquid stains all over the inside of the door, and it was obvious that they had not spent much time cleaning the en suite as there were dirty marks on the toilet pedestal, which was slightly off putting, also the net/voile curtains at the window were all stained and dirty. This did not put us off as we enjoyed our stay but you do expect higher standards of cleanliness than this. we had read the reviews before booking and there were some people who were complaining of the cleanliness, but we just put it down to people expecting too much or being too fussy, but I do believe that the cleanliness of the bedrooms could have been of a higher standard. The rest of the hotel was fine, and we had no concerns, we met a couple whist staying there who had a room in the old part of the hotel and they had no complaints with there room.
We had booked in for two nights and we were surprised to find on our return from a day out the first morning of our stay that they had not serviced our room. The receptionist had informed us the night before, that there had been a mix up with our room and they were not aware that we had checked in, but all the relevant paperwork had been signed and we had been issued with a key card. We had to ask for replacements for the tea and coffee and towels to be changed as a result of this. There was obviously some communication error but they were very apologetic and whilst we enjoyed a drink in Oscars next door, this was soon rectified. We did overhear other people complaining about the cleanliness of there rooms as well whist we were walking through reception, so not sure if they were just having a bad weekend, but it was a shame because we couldn't fault anything else.
We enjoyed our stay, and we would use the hotel again, but we feel that if they do not improve the housekeeping standards of the rooms that all the work to renovate the hotel will be wasted.
All in all it was a great relaxing break within lovely surroundings, and wonderful staff, but the rooms could have been cleaner.

Stayed here for one night only on a business trip. It was a good experience, with nice staff, helpful in every way. Food in Oscars was good, once we found our way through the empty rooms. Possibly could do with a sign to show us the way to restaurant.! Rooms were very clean but very hot at night and I could not turn down the heat in bathroom which was boiling. Overall a pleasant stay and if needs I will stay again.
