“Wedding Guest - Absolutely disgusting”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014

I attended a wedding here earlier this month. It was dreadful. Cheap for a reason. The food was nasty, the drinks were rubbish. The staff were awful and well just not worth the money at all.

My mum booked the room for me as a gift away from the children. The bed was comfortable but it had a funny smell and well just dreadful.

My friend who's wedding I was attending told me how cheap it was when she booked it. The food was dreadful and tasteless, the staff were rude Well you get what you pay for. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I would recommend paying that little bit more somewhere else and have a great day.

Stayed for a family wedding.
Negatives: Public facilities are very poorly signposted in the hotel. No idea where toilets are or where breakfast is served. Sandwiches ordered at Oscars at 12:00 did not arrive in the promised 20 mins. Eventually turned up via room service at 13:10..... And charged in full to individual rooms!! Cobwebs of great magnitude in the bathroom. BIG HINT..Suggest the cleaner closes the door in order to see them.... It may also have been useful had I been informed that I needed to insert the key car in the almost invisible slot in order to obtain LIGHT in the room. By the time I had found this out I had applied make-up in the dark, checked the fuse box AND re-set the trip!!! £12 for a coke, a pint of lager and a glass of wine? Really????
Positives.... Bed was comfortable. Staff were pleasant (if ineffectual) Lovely outdoor seating area to enjoy the lovely weather.
OVERALL: This hotel needs to buck it's ideas up. It could be great but, in my opinion, relies too much on wedding parties making their own entertainment and being happy. Had I been here for a regular stay I would not have been impressed at all.

We gathered here for a large family reunion - hotel was comfortable and despite also having a wedding reception on at the same time as our function on the Sat evening the staff coped well. Breakfast was not so good - the waitresses seemed to prefer chatting rather than serving the customers - had to go and disturb their conversations to get them to deliver tea and toast.

This review is purely for the wedding of my son on Sat June 7th, whilst I agree with some of the other reviewers' opinions on rooms etc.it really is a great venue for a family wedding.
Opting for the set wedding package with extra guests we were delighted with the quality of everything which the deal included.
The room is newly refurbished, as are the bar and toilets so no problems there, very attractive and modern. Flowers on tables and cake by Vivid of Wrexham were superb, so pretty and just what we asked for.The table settings, chairs covers looked immaculate and along with well presented table plans and menus meant the room looked spectacular.
The food at the wedding breakfast was excellent, good quality beef, succulent prawns and yummy chocolate cheesecake, no complaints from anyone! They were also most helpful at providing some alternatives for guests whose tastes were different. The evening buffet was very tasty and plentiful, several guests mentioned that it was one of the best post wedding buffets they had ever had!
The wine with the meal was plentiful and good quality and the cake was very good with 3 different flavour tiers. Organisation of the whole event was excellent and the disco was brilliant, keeping every one dancing til the end of the night.
We did not have the wedding ceremony at the hotel, but the room was available in the package. The bridal suite is quite traditional, newly refurbished with a spectacular bathroom and is really big with a separate lounge, it would be brilliant if the wedding party were all getting ready there as there would be ample room for everyone.
All this might seem over the top, but truthfully it was really brilliant especially for the cost of the whole event. Congratulations and thanks to the replacement wedding co-ordinator who did a brilliant job. The staff at the venue are all most helpful and very pleasant, As mentioned in another review they work long hours and then appear at breakfast cheerful and smiling, well done to them.
So all in all, a wedding venue I would highly recommend for those looking for good value and a hotel where they really do all they can to make it a day to remember. Thank you to you all.

Recently visited for a family wedding . Our room was large but far too warm . Great shower and ammeninities .
Group if had a meal the first night and apart from us 15 and another couple the restaurant was empty ! Soon found out why . The starters had illusions of grandeur and whilst the taste stacked up the value for money certainly didn't . We had the belly pork and black pudding starter and it was a complete rip off . How they justify the prices I will never know . The burger on our mains was delicious and worth it but then again the desert didn't impress . No wonder it was empty , time to re think their offerings I think . Breakfast was good but one Friend asked for poached egg and bacon and that's exactly what she got , it was disgraceful do they have no pride ? One tiny egg and the smallest piece if bacon . Why not give them a few ?
The wedding was stunning and the hotel certainly pulled out everything to make it a fab day . The downside was the staff who were so tired working 15 hour shifts . Two to be named are Lynn from Durham and Keira . Lovely and very helpful .
The Wrexham lager was very nice and prices are what you'd expect . All in all I thoroughly enjoyed my two nights . Well done to get staff but please please sort out oscars restaurant x

Nice large room, but bathroom not clean and mouldy, odour and rusty... needed updating. Staff didn't ask us about our stay and although cheap for a hotel we would not stay there again.
Breakfast was ok but the service was not great either.
