Nice enough but service levels fall far below what you would expect given the prices charged......just a bit more polish needed. Top prices warrant a bore more attention to detail TNT was lacking on the day we called in......

Well. I am not sure whether this could count as a review or not because we never actually got there for our treat of the week of afternoon tea! Or more accurately when I phoned to find out if they were still offering it in 1st week of October I was told quite coldly I should have pre-booked at least 24 hours in advance, given a pre-order and left credit card details................all that for just afternoon tea!!. Come on, who are you kidding for sandwiches and cake, its afternoon tea not a Banquet.

We had called at the Hotel earlier in the week, collected the literature, which says afternoon tea Mon- Sat. 3.00pm to 5.00pm and seriously considered having an evening meal as the menu looked superb. However that one little and obviously insignificant afternoon tea incident really soured the milk and turned us away completely. Sorry to say it smacked of at least a lack of customer service skills on the phone to maybe explain the policy, flew in the face of the published information.

We stayed for two nights with some close friends, who like us were celebrating their Silver Wedding Anniversary and we had decided that we would treat ourselves to a weekend on Gower, walking with our dogs. Fairyhill proved to be all we had hoped for and more! The staff were delightful and could not have been more welcoming, very friendly without being over familiar. Our bedroom (number 3 classed as standard) was lovely with a view over the garden and an extremely comfortable bed. The bathroom products were very good quality and along with big fluffy towels were replaced twice a day. There is an excellent wine list, however we found the house Pinot Grigio to be very good indeed so didn't venture any further! The food was fantastic and we couldn't fault either dinner or breakfast. Gower itself is beautiful, we walked 25 miles in three days - with the dogs who also thoroughly enjoyed their stay at Fairyhill and have asked if we could go back again soon - the answer is a resounding "YES".

The room had lovely little extras, and a choice of items in the bathroom. Even candles for a relaxing romantic bubble bath. The view was lovely. Afternoon tea was excellent. When we checked in the staff were friendly and welcoming. The wine lst was extensive, something for everyone. The dinner menu had delicious items to choose from, and nearly all locally sourced. Great work chef! We did ask for wine recommendation, but it seemed like a bit of an effort, which was a real shame. That was the only negative thing...which is very minor. Will definitely go back in the winter when there will be real fires, candlelight and cosy corners. Great for couples and friends who want to enjoy a quiet getaway. When we checked out we had. Little bag with fruit and bottled water for our journey. Another great touch. Had wanted to visit for some time, but they are always busy.

I lived this little gem and its worth getting off the beaten track for. The room was large and beautifully appointed and the gardens so peaceful and serene, right next to a small babbling brook. You could only hear rural sounds and no road noise around you. We also ate at the restaurant, not cheap by any means but very high quality and worth it. Lovely bagged gift of fruit and water to continue our journey the next day.

I didn't stay here, although I would love to, but had a birthday lunch with my elderly Aunt who is a sprightly 100 years old. The service was impeccable, caring and thoughtful. The food, as always was really good - we had the fish of the day. For the dessert, we had poached peaches and they added Happy Birthday in chocolate for my Aunt - she was thrilled! We sat outside for drinks but the wasps were a pest and the waitress suggested we went inside, laid up a table especially for us, and because the wasps had ruined my drink, I was given another one without charge. Unexpected, unnecessary but wonderful. Andrew and all of his colleagues have always provided the best service and high quality food in each one of my trips there. One day I will stay and write a review about the rooms - which I am sure are as fabulous as the rest of the hotel.
