Today we dived into the King Arthur for lunch. We got there about 11.50 and was perfect timing as we got the table by the piano.
After we arrived clots of people arrived so timing is essential at this pub !

We both ordered pie and chips, was steak and ale. The food came with Carrots and peas. Perfect amount of food the pie was full of meat and the chips were cooked perfectly.

We paid £19 for food and thought that was reasonable.

No music on, maybe that might be something to think about ? We could hear the staff ( all 5 of them ) joking and chatting away constantly but not off putting.

Look at my picture of the food, worth it really.

Dinner for our party of nine during Christmas week was excellent. The menu choices for starters, mains and desserts suited all our requirements, from steaks to fish.
Service was good and the staff friendly. Good atmosphere.
Lunch was just for three and was as good an experience as the dinner, but less costly !
Always great food and service at reasonable prices.

Room Tip: Always book in advance.

We love this place , it's what a country pub/ restaurant should be . The staff are always very friendly even when they are extremely busy. Food has always been of a very high standard . When we visited the open fire was blazing. It's the sort of place you should always make time to visit .

We were offered the opportunity to stay in one of the rooms at the hotel after the wedding of a family member which happened to be on New Year's Eve.
The wedding took place in a new looking but very atmospheric barn with oak frame, and there were rooms in the actual hotel as well as in a purpose built annexe. We were allocated a room in the hotel itself. I was a little worried that it would be very noisy until the small hours, as the hotel throw a party for locals at New Year, but it was no problem as it turned out. Our room had clearly been refurbished fairly recently and was very comfortable and well appointed and had an ensuite.
Breakfast in the morning was plentiful and well done, with the option of a portion of laverbread as we were in Wales. Friendly staff and it was nice to have breakfast surrounded by family and friends of the newlyweds and go into the new year together.
I'd be very happy to stay again.
