“Peaceful remote location”
Reviewed 29 August 2014

We stayed in the hotel for a 2 night break. To find any any serious faults would be harsh and picky.
The staff were pleasant, polite & friendly and made us feel welcome from booking to leaving.
The location is in the middle of the countryside making it perfect for those who want a relaxing break with peace and quiet and access to all that the Pembrokeshire National Park has to offer.
We had a second floor room with views over the countryside and the cottages. The room wasn't the biggest but it was adequate with all ammenities including tea & coffee.
The bar offered a good selection of beers, lagers and cider plus all of your favourite tipples.
A local blonde beer made about a mile from the hotel was very nice and resonably priced as were all other drinks except Peroni at £5 a pint but that seems to be the going rate for that particular brand.
We ate in the restaurant for dinner one night and the other night we drove a couple of miles to the local town of Newport. Two breakfasts were included in our package. Got to give the food quality an 8 out of 10.
The serious critics would find some minor faults with this hotel but all in all we really enjoyed our stay

Room Tip: Trust your sat nav and signs. You will get you there when you are giving up hope

Thank you for your wonderful review of Gellifawr! We are thrilled you enjoyed your stay here with us. We like to hear of our guests enjoying our local ale, as we are overwhelmed with the standard of the produce we receive from them, be it ales or food!
We hope you shall return to us here at Gellifawr!
Many thanks,
Keith Eaton

Last minute booking in a three bedroom cottage over the bank holiday weekend. Beautiful scenery with red kites, ravens and buzzards soaring over the wonderful Gwaun valley. Peaceful and relaxing and a great welcome from the staff. We self catered but made use of the bar which was comfortable and reasonably priced. Would go again.

We stayed here for 2 nights as a late birthday trip for my boyfriend and had one of the one bedroomed cottages. The cottage was very well equipped and extremely cosy yet spacious with everything needed to cook a 3 course meal on the first night.
The only downside was next door who had children (very loud and not well disciplined children) who were loud during the morning so no lie in was experienced! However, we were off exploring and didn't experience a peep out of anyone during the nights.

Lovely helpful staff and a beautiful location to stay in. The last 20minutes or so driving to get there are on country roads but we didn't find this a problem at all, in fact it made the journey more interesting than just being on the motorway.

Good location to visit various places and would definitely reccommend the cottages and would stay again.

Thank you for your lovely review. We are pleased to hear that you partner and yourself enjoyed your birthday stay with us at Gellifawr Hotel in one of our Self Catering Cottages. We do apologise for the noisy neighbours however we are glad to hear that this didn't effect your stay too much. We hope that you do return again soon to explore our surroundings areas and all that Pembrokeshire has to offer.

Stayed with DH at the hotel, for 3 nights over a bank holiday week. We add to postpone our initial booking due to a health problem, and the staff and management couldn't have been more helpful and understanding.
The hotel is gorgeous and so are the cottages. Everything is tastefully decorated, traditional but still with all the modern conveniences you could wish for (there is no phone signal but you get free wireless). We felt welcomed from day 1!
We stayed in room 4. It's a really spacious room with a four poster bed. We slept beautifully, no noise whatsoever.
Breakfast is superb. We got to chose as many items as we wanted from the menu, from eggs, bacon, beans, fruit, yogurt, fresh juices, croissants, toasts... We add dinner at the restaurant twice. It is not pub food nor your typical B&B restaurant, which comes with a price, but totally worth it. My husband absolutely loved the lamb!
The location is great for anyone who loves the countryside. Good for cycling and long walks. It's a 10 min drive to Newport and a bit further to Fishguard, where you can find boats and boat races. Further ahead is StDavids and its cathedral and also a nice beach area. We also went to Cardigan and visited an iron village on our away there, apparently the only rebuilt one in the UK.

Great to hear that you enjoyed some of our coastal towns and villages within Pembrokeshire and discovered the historical Iron-Age Fort, Castell Henllys during your stay. We were a large party for lunch but the hotel couldn't have been more helpful and accomodating. We had an excellent lunch which all seemed to have been prepared and cooked on the premises. Apart from the wasps, which the hotel could not be blamed for, we all enjoyed our meal and left replete and happy. Will return!

Stayed for two nights in the main hotel, the staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel and surroundings were stunning. We had two amazing meals in the restaurant and can highly recommend it. We were very tempted to have the same meal two nights in a row but thought we better try something different and it was as good as the first one.
We had a drive over to st David's which was about a 50 minute drive beautiful town and the cathedral is definitely worth a visit.
All in all a lovely stay and would definitely go again. Having seen the cottages available and that they are dog friendly would love to bring my mom to stay.
