Went here on steak night a few months ago and it was fabulous! Unfortunately we were disappointed this time on a Saturday night. The menu was nothing special and was very much "pub grub" that we could have had anywhere so was overpriced. There was a large noisy party in so we left without having a sweet or coffee. This was not the fine dining experience we were expecting after our last visit. Staff were excellent shame about the food and the ambience.

I have been using the Stables restaurant for many years and always enjoyed the experience, nice atmosphere, good food and real ales. The week before Xmas we decided to have a pre Xmas night out with some friends, as we had'nt been to the Stables for some time we decided to book, on being seated in the restaurant we found the seating to be really uncomfortable, the majority of the chairs in the restaurant I am familiar with, having had pubs myself, cheap pub furniture £40 (ISH) a unit, anyhow, we asked if we could change the seats for alternative ones from a vacant table, a very pleasant waitress said I will sort it for you, then GARETH turned up and it all went wrong, what an attitude, do you thing I am going to carry those across the restaurant for you, was the first thing he said, I replied well it would be nice, he then launched into a tirade of abuse, why should I do that, nobody else has complained!!! The waitresses were obviously embarrassed and apologised beside themselves for the attitude of their colleague, as they called him. Why is that person employed in that position, I would reccommend the owners did their best to bring back Mark, all the years he was there that restaurant was run how it should be with unfaltering customer service. Food was very good and we will return when GARETH has been removed from the position, would be nice to have some decent seating as well they really do let the place down!

We arrived early as hadn't realised journey time but the staff were able to accommodate us 30 minutes earlier than had booked. The food was fabulous couldn't fault any part of the meal. The service was great nothing too much trouble and the Stables restaurant was very relaxed, lighting was great (you could see what you were eating). We intend going back during the summer do we can appreciate the buildings in daylight. Highly recommended evening.

Went on steak night when we could take a bottle of our own wine. Service and steaks were excellent but the chips - which I would never usually finish - were a delight! Great atmosphere and surroundings.

We have been to this restaurant on several occasions and really enjoy the food and service. We especially like the Sunday lunch menu deal - the roast dinners are amazing and plenty of food as well.
The staff are very friendly and accommodating - we've been with our baby (when he was only two months old) and they made sure we had a table with plenty of room for us.
Every time we've been we've almost had the restaurant to ourselves - we must seem to pick quiet times. It's a great location and scenery as your drive up to the Hall is stunning.
