“Away from the usual package tours”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 March 2014 via mobile

Stayed here as part of a ski trip in Feb 2014.
The village itself is quiet compared to others in terms of après-ski and the hotel is right on the edge of it, which is fine if you're looking for a quiet stay, otherwise it's a good 20 min walk into the centre of Brixen im thale where the main two bars and the gondola station are found. The hotel runs a minibus to the gondola every morning and there is also a regular ski bus service that runs past the hotel during the day, so you don't have to worry about making in the same walk in all your ski gear!
Hotel check-in was smooth and the receptionist friendly and fluent in English. The same is not true of most of the other staff, the hotel isn't I think one that package tours book to so we were possibly the only British guests there, but they know enough to be able to get by.
We were upgraded to a suite on the top floor which was a nice bonus as it came with a balcony overlooking the village. Decor typical Austrian style with lots of wood, maybe could do with a bit of modernising. Beds were comfortable though and we were easily able to regulate the temperature in the room to a comfortable level, something that often seems difficult in these sorts of hotel where they combat the winter weather by blasting the heat out 24 hours per day.
Breakfast was a good continental selection and we also paid for dinner which was 5 courses, and excellent, every night of the stay.
Hotel also has indoor and outdoor tennis courts and pools. We didn't use either but they looked in good condition and something that I'm sure would be popular with visitors during the summer.
All in all a very enjoyable stay. When skiing in the skiwelt again we might choose another village as Brixen im thale is so quiet, but if we were to come back here I would happily return to the sporthotel.

i recently returned from a weeks stay at this hotel and have to say it was excellent, it has a very good location being just a few hundred metres from the station which is how i travelled and very handy for the gondolas serving both sides of the valley brixen/soll/ellmau/sheffau etc on one side and westendorf/choralpe/and connection to kitzbuhel on the other reached either by hotels own shuttle or the ski bus which stops just opposite the hotel and there is a run back to just opposite the hotel on one side.
food was excellent there was not one thing that i did not like during my stay and the staff were efficient and helpful,
spa area was good a great way to spend a few hours after skiing.
if you are looking to ski in the skiwelt area you will not go wrong with this hotel which i recommend to anyone
