“Simply Wonderful”

A beautiful room and very hospitable hosts. The location is incredible and utterly isolated, though only about 15 mins of scenic driving from Betws-y-Coed. The room and the furnishings are gorgeous. The bathroom was sumptuously decorated (somewhere that *does* look like the pictures for a change). You will have use of a huge lounge and a vast bedroom. Breakfast was hearty and delicious. I almost didn't want to review it so I can keep it a secret for next time! In comparison to the B&B we stayed at a week earlier, which was beautiful but had a meagre breakfast and a less relaxed, homely feel, Hafod Elwy Hall was palatial and welcoming. Very highly recommended indeed! The other reviewers are right!

We've recently stayed for a long weekend and just had to add to the glowing reviews of Hafod Elwy Hall.

The setting is fantastic - really secluded with some lovely forest and lake walks. The phrase "away from it all" couldn't be more apt. Having said that the Snowdonia National Park is within very easy reach....

Roger and Wendy were perfect hosts, this is the antithesis of an impersonal hotel stay. Roger's cooking is mouthwatering. We dined in Hafod Elwy on both evenings of our stay and were superbly catered for. Why travel when you can eat so well on site!

We hope to return and will be telling our friends about this hidden gem. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: Don't rely on website booking (e.g Laterooms) just phone Roger direct for the best deal

We stayed for two nights as part of a short holiday in the area, and I am glad to say that the excellent reviews of Hafod Elwy are completely justified. The Hall is in a very remote location, which makes it an ideal place for someone who is looking for a bit of peace and quiet, or for some nice walks. It is a working farm so there is a lot of animal life around, including some magnificent owls.

We received a very warm welcome, including tea and cake in the lounge. Our room (Rookery/Brenig) was incredibly comfortable, with a nice window seat and view over the Alwen Reservoir through the trees - excellent for just sitting and relaxing with a book. The bed was great - with an excellent mattress! The bathroom is bigger than most standard hotel rooms and very nicely laid out and decorated. The shower was a bit weak, but there was a big free-standing bath, and the feel of the room is great.

Breakfast was very good, with produce from their farm as well as cereals, juices, yoghurts, etc. We had dinner on one of the two nights - fresh grey mullet was delicious and I would definitely also recommend the home-made pate. The dining room just has one large and impressive table, so all guests sit together. (In this case, we were the only guests staying.) Guests can also use the 'gun room' and lounge downstairs - very spacious and comfortable.

Roger and Wendy are great hosts and very helpful. They really made sure we had a brilliant stay.

A two-day midweek break at short notice found us enjoying the Dinner, Bed & Breakfast hospitality of Wendy and Roger at Hafod Elwy Hall. The booking was quick and efficient, the location was wonderfully rural (on a working farm), the welcome was warm, the premises were spotlessly clean, the Four-Poster bedroom (Bran) and en-suite were very spacious and the food was both plentiful and delicious. Our hosts were always available, always friendly and always good-humoured but were never intrusive – the perfect balance. We would not hesitate to revisit or recommend Hafod Elwy Hall

We stayed here for our honeymoon and found a beautiful hotel in a picturesque setting. We stayed for four days and these were the most relaxing four days we have ever had on holiday. On arrival we were welcomed by Roger and Wendy, who immediately made us feel at home. The room was amazing, with a lovely four-poster bed, nice views and an amazing en-suite bathroom. The hotel was in a secluded area, whch provided tranquility and the opportuntity for peaceful walks in the countryside. The food was great and I well recommend the lamb, expecially as it is all local produce. Larger towns and Snowdon were a short drive away, allowing for shopping, eating out and further walking.

We would definitely stay here again and could not recommend it more highly.

Room Tip: The Bran is a lovely room

I stayed at Hafod Elwy Hall a while ago and decided to go back alone this time. I cannot stress enough how wonderful my time is there. Wendy and Roger are the best hosts, Roger is a fantastic cook, Wendy is great to be with, fun, full of knowledge and both are extremely friendly.
The room I was in overlooked the front lawn with stunning views, I had my own bathroom with beautiful huge bath, shower, sink and toilet. The towels were gleaming white as were the sheet and duvet cover. Everyhere was so clean and tidy but not uninvitingly so.
Beautiful real log fire in the lounge at night. Extremely comfortable furniture, freedom to come and go during the day. The variety of tea, coffee, etc in the room was amazing.

I would reccommend Hafod to everyone who fancies a lovely relaxing break.

We booked this hotel on the spur of the moment on a Friday afternoon. We managed to book into the last available room which was lucky as we had our dog. We arrived and were greated by the owner who was most welcoming and gave us a tour around the house. Our dog stayed in her crate downstairs where she was happy to curl up and sleep. Our room was a large room with bags of character and a large old four poster (extremely comfortable). This was complimented with a large en-suite bathroom which again was full of the character of the house.
Breakfast was with the other guests in the halls old dining room, this ranged from a full English of which was all locally produced to all the other options available. The option for dinner was given however we did not go but the menu looked very appetising. The views are second to none looking west towards Snowdonia ( Betws-y-coed is about 10 miles away) There were a number of walks available ranging from a short hike to 8 milers around the nearby lakes.
All in all we had a great stay at the hall, very easy going owners who looked after us and the other guests were very friendly. Great for a trip to snowdonia or just to get away for some rural luxury, thoroughly recommended.

Room Tip: Don't forget your walking boots.
