Stayed at Hafod Elwy Hall in October 2006 and i'm still wondering what the experience was like..To get a few things straight.
It's described as a hall but looks like a large extended farmhouse. It's reached by driving about a mile down a very rough track so if you value your suspension be careful and go in the light. The owners are Wendy and Roger and they are great hosts. Not all the rooms are en suite so book the Bran room. It's a bit more expensive but worth it.Sky tv with all channels.
This may sound odd but if you book early in the week you will get to choose what everyone has for dinner.Nearly all the produce is from the farm and the food is lovely. You all sit at one table and it has the nice feel of being in someone's living room. Some may find it odd popping round the back to see the piglets and then having pork for dinner. There were six of us there when we stayed and it all worked fine.Wendy is an ex model and her stories go on and on.
It's not licenced so if you fancy a drink with dinner take your own wine. The fridges in the room are tiny but Roger will happily put your stuff in the house fridge.
Stand outside at night - It defines dark.
The lounge is comfortable and again sky is available or just sit back and relax listening to the parakeet and nothing else.
If you need any supplies the closest place is Denbigh and it's a 20 min drive (once you've rattled a few filling out down the mile long path.)
Your stay will all depend on who else is with you.If there are six of you it will be fine.People who don't like dining with all the other guests can be ignored.Go and stay at a big city hotel. We all got along fine when we stayed with Ian providing most of the conversation (he never shut up) and Ollie from the Navy.
Roger does the cooking and you can all choose what you want to eat every night as long as you all agree to have the same thing Pork - Beef - Lamb.
Go and try it.It's certainly different.
